There was a time I wanted the Mikey Way bass but that was just because it’s very pretty.

Oh the reviews for this one are 100000% AI bots!

I keep seeing this retro camera which looks amazing and I want it so badly but it’s advertised on TikTok so it’s probably a scam or at least kinda rubbish. I just want a cool new thing to play with. 🥲

It’s similar for me. More on the gadget/tech side of things than science, but I’m so bored of it all. I love my gadgets and gizmos but this is the longest I’ve gone without upgrading my phone because what’s the point? They’re all the exact same.

No probs! And I'm with you on the stock worries; like it's great I've got *something* but uugggghhhhh.

Yeah, I've had that before! I think it might be cus the item pages have only just gone up so the search hasn't properly registered it? The Gift Bundle is a separate item page (I think cus it's got a slightly later release date) but out of stock: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DTN6KRQ...

Collector's Edition decks and CB boxes are gone, but the regular ones, single boosters and bundles are still up: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DTN1MH2... They do a weird thing where it's one listing with different variations so searching for them is a pain!

I know Amazon’s not ideal and there is a risk of re-sealed stuff but the latter is practically nonexistent for stuff on release. I’ve done it for a fair few set launches now and always got what I ordered.

I ordered all four commander decks, the gift bundle and the regular bundle off Amazon last night. They do deliver a week later on the main release day, but you don’t pay until dispatch so I use them as a backup. If I can find the things I want elsewhere, I’ll cancel the Amazon order.

Am I pissed at the price? Yes. Am I buying it all anyway? Also yes. 😭

Oh I don’t doubt it; I have a *ton* of issues with GW these days! But when it comes to setting, what fantasy art written in the 80s and 90s wasn’t at least a bit racist by today’s standards? Not excusing it of course, but those goalposts were almost in different cities the amount he was moving them.

Damn, there was me just about to make a point about how the striking miners in Necromunda are painted as the bad guys and agents of Chaos and discord because that definitely hasn’t happened in real life at all… 🤔

We could go back and forth on how *effective* it is at satire, but that’s a completely different argument to whether it’s an attempt at satire. And even with your clarification it’s still the people at the bottom being exploited by the ones at the top.

I’ll be honest, I’m not super up on the Necromunda lore but rich elites taking advantage of the working class miners, who then turn on each other rather than those who are exploiting them? Sure does sound familiar…

That’s exactly what they did, though? www.thegamer.com/warhammer-mo...

The examples you provided may have been intended as satire when they were written 30-40 years ago. Obviously these days, we see them for the racist caricatures that they are. But there are many other examples of satire which were written back then and are still valid criticisms of the time.

That’s a completely fair argument to make, and I’d actually be really interested in examples if you’re willing to share. I don’t doubt that some lore has racist aspects. But saying that the satire doesn’t exist and never has is the same as me saying that that racism doesn’t exist.

I mean, “no one wants to go to Birmingham” is about as subtle as a brick to the face. 🤣 But on a more general note, I guess if you’re not from the UK you can miss it as it’s more satirising the overall mood rather than specific aspects, but then maybe listen to Brits who do recognise it? 🤷

I also immediately thought of the woke video game list, but I think the difference is the backlash against it is much smaller, or at least seems that way to me. Maybe it’s my bubble, but yeah. It’s exhausting either way.

I figured, I’m actually glad you pointed it out! 😁

Isn’t this a pretty standard loadout for an American? 🤣

Oh of course! I was focusing on the line about its people, just taking the mick out of Brummies. 🤦

Gotcha. So, maybe trust Brits when we say that 40K was satirical? I’ll be the first to argue that 40k’s lost most of that in recent years, but it absolutely was.
