not just whimsy but you worked on a similar concept once right?

To me, "tuning" describes the tweaking of numbers and other design dials to create the desired game dynamics. And it feels like fully 50% of my job as a game designer. It just feels so critical. I've had prototypes where the system itself appeared to be a failure but the issue was actually tuning.

I know, I know. I was just answering the more general question "why isn't this the common way to hire artists". Here is another: why are so few boardgames made "in-house" by a fixed team, hired permanently as in other industries?

sorry my point was meant to be, "royalties aren't as reliable, so a flat amount might be better sometimes". But I ran out of characters XD

I don't know about the boardgame industry, but in amateur videogame land its quite common for someone to propose other naive creators to contribute to the project in exchange for royalties if the product ends up making profits. Most projects never do, and those people get nothing

we can look at the past and talk about how inaction allowed it all to happen, but that's not today's warning warning. not a warning of a slide. we're falling down the steep slope. this is the time people are going to look back on and condemn the lack of inaction, domestic and international

I don't remember why the game needs this many different card backs? It looks really good though! I know nothing about design-illustration but I'm a bit surprised, is starting without color the standard aproach?

wow, great atmosphere there

lol really? how many players did you play it with? I find this super interesting because some reviewers have similar lines saying its not "exciting", while imo the simultaneous card selection is as exciting as most euros can get.

Its hilarious how some neurotypicals will dismiss any kind of neurological difference unless the subject shows clear signs of below average intelligence (and only considering their own preconception of intelligence)

funny. I have the best memory in my group when it comes to rules. I wonder how much it has to do with usually being the teacher. Or maybe its just "special interest superpowers" lol
