Seems like a pretty extreme silencing.

Voting isn’t atoning.
Fixing what they broke is atoning.

I don’t need a full public rending of garments and wearing sackcloth and ashes, but you bet your ass I’m gonna need them to take a couple “we told you so” lumps before they can start atoning.

My issue is that everyone (yes, everyone) knew that a rerun meant cruelty and capriciousness, they were just confident it wouldn’t affect them.
I don’t need to hang with folks who were ok with it happening to those *other* people, over there.

which, what the shit kind of ego trip passing as pedagogy is that even, but we could all say “Hey, asshole, I’m here on the GI Bill” in unison whenever he told it.
Thanks for the healthy distrust of anyone who considers themself the smartest one in the room and for the bitchin hat. Slainte!

One of his favorite stories was one about him getting into an argument with his (German? English?) teacher about some arcane detail of meaning where the prof thought to settle the argument by threatening to flunk my dad so he would “get drafted and die in Vietnam,”

What the fucking fuck. Where’s the Kennedy Curse when you need it?

Exactly. My station’s even still on an active freight line that connects to four decent sized cities. Even if we kept cars as a last mile solution, now it’s 5-10 miles a week, not 300.

Yeah, I mean, there’s a conversation to be had about *why* transit is only in cities and not a spiderweb of like feeder rail, but you kind of need people living far from other people if you want things like food and lumber.

My comment: Stonewall without transfolks is like pasta without salt: bland and yet somehow more offensive.
Do you really think they intend to let L, G and B alone now?

Also, as much as a “be careful what you wish for” ending would delight my shriveled little heart, I feel like “more white men in low paying service jobs” is not the end game.

1. It did not account for one of the most powerful forces, humanity’s ability to lie to themselves when they feel guilty
2. All the people who need darkness to operate made sure to sow lies and misdirection to dim the light of truth pointing at them

Guantanamo was expressly built to be a black box.
It was illegal then too.

I did not hear metformin as a treatment for LC but as a prevention if you have acute covid to avoid developing LC

It was the most recent one, I left it on the coffee table to read later and then took his bff for a ride without him so he chewed it to confetti out of boredom.
He mostly seems to be full of fiber, but our neighborhood still runs on good old coaxial copper, alas. ;)

I’m more of a cat person, but we have a transplant recipient in the house and more cats is off the table because of the litter. We have an entire herd and I have never been happier that we fenced in half an acre for them.

I mostly work around blue collar folks, and relatively rural. I like tractor pulls and drag brunches both. And as a 30 year veteran of trying to listen to the “forgotten” rural white guy, I can vouch that the problem is they never shut the fuck up and let anyone else have a go.
