There is still proper local radio. It's online, it's on FM & DAB, it's in hospital and care settings - it's community radio and (at the moment at least!) BBC Local Radio.
While it's sad to see folks lose their jobs, those skills ARE interchangeable and they'll go to better things.

And that's because commercial radio is a business. The way we consume radio (and the types) have changed over the years. As long as there's a smidge of local news and local ads, then that's all great! Travel reports aren't even necessary now with the advent of Waze, Apple & Google Maps etc.

Look at when the old heritage stations were taken over. "I'll not listen to Heart, you've lost a listener", Susan writes on Facebook. But you know what? I bet she's listening again - and won't actually notice (nor care) that the presenter isn't based in the area she's living in.

This would be amazing! I’m surprised we don’t have one already. With the amount of tourists that come to the city, along with locals and students, this would be a great asset

Gosh! The last time I got a trident was when Stagecoach operated BROOKESbus in Oxford, with Fox FM or Heart as it grew to be, blaring out of the speakers inside. Good times!

Oh no, what happens when you take the wrong bus out? Maybe stress, make sure you take some time out for you.

A bit of nostalgia soon to be gone! Nice to see the other operators branding on some of the signage in the background. Gloucester Green in the city centre could do with some love and care.

Genuinely interested in how many of these folks, or anyone who purchased one, still use it. And if they do, if they use it as regularly as they did when it first launched...

Good to know! I want to try and make this my home alongside Threads, with a view to maybe leave the latter after a while.

Oooh thanks for the tip! I looked at Popular with Friends, but sadly I don’t follow enough people (apparently!) for it to work, haha. Will give the Following feed a go though, I assumed it had already defaulted to that.

Oof, don’t envy that! Roads in those villages weren’t built for the size of those cars.
Took a trip on the S3 from Chipping Norton to Oxford on Thursday, it’s a nice little route!

Let's hope BlueSky continues to be moderated and doesn't go down the same path as Threads. Though I don't hold out much hope.
Follower from Threads, great to join you on here!

Did this during the COVID lockdowns of 2020 - all the breaking news notifications were things I knew about having also worked clinically at the hospital at the time.
Never re-installed them, never looked back! Facebook & LinkedIn removed this year (from my phone). So we'll see how that goes!
