Sure players more often have weapons to pick up than monsters, BUT when they fight a BBEG with a healer nearby, this is going to be what keeps that boss from spending their whole turn standing up -> picking up.

The best way to learn how to better DM for a particular thing is to play that thing and learn what that player is looking for. See whats rewarding for that class. Learn their mechanics so you can encourage them to use them.
Luckily I'm married to a DM I can learn a lot from. ❤️🔥

Tbh posts like this are why I love following you. Like it's great to know the people at Paizo have real values and genuine interest in reading and growing as opposed to some corporate mandated lowest common denominator. And of course, advocacy.

Like in the above, by reading this item, you'd learn positive damage USUALLY only hurts undead.
And yes it might also hurt Dhampirs who aren't technically undead but have negative healting.... but thats the exception, not the rule.
