nah i get that, playing monster hunter made me confident enough to try a souls game (admittedly Nightreign but still) bc it helped me get accustomed to waiting for openings and timing my attacks and dodges
skills aren’t unique to one game! they can be applicable across genres

i’m saying that this isn’t “abuse”. he was disrespecting their copyright by stealing their product and sales, they responded.
copyright abuse would be going after every single instance of fanart on the internet, that’s all i’m saying.
do i agree necessarily? no, but by definition this was not abuse.

piracy is against the law, they worked with the DoJ, and while yes i feel the response was disproportionate japanese copyright law is notoriously strict so thats more a politics issue than a nintendo issue

he still has to answer to Nintendo HQ in Japan though, he’s only head of the USA branch so i don’t think he has as much power as you might think he does. he’s not even a ceo

i’m just saying if you hate nintendo *this* much for raising prices then you should hate sony and microsoft just as much if not more for their other far scummier practices and swear off of those consoles/companies too

no matter the console you need an online sub for online features; having a button to use an online feature so you don’t have to quit a game to set it up isnt “uniquely evil” to me, it just is.
the ps5 controller has a mic and records you for achievement clips automatically, to me that’s worse

im not saying the raised prices are good, im just saying that nintendo isn’t unique in constantly raising prices ($100+ Dualsense controllers, GTA6 rumored to be priced at $90 *BEFORE MK World reveal*, ps5 price hikes post launch, xbox price hikes post launch)

they’re also doing a lot of free performance upgrades for their switch 1 games, the ones that have an optional extra cost are the ones that add new content and not for full price whereas ps/xbox would have you buy the game again for upgrades
so honestly you could do a lot worse than nintendo imo

sony and microsoft are also multibillion dollar corporations and yet they continually fire employees/shutter studios to boost the ceo’s salary and put microtransactions wherever they can
when the wii u was a failure then nintendo ceo satoru iwata took a 50% pay cut rather than lay off any employees

to be fair if the video was from someone in america the tariffs are artificially inflating the prices
every console has optional accessories; you don’t *need* the camera or pro controller to play games on the switch 2, they’re completely optional

the game price for MK World is a bit high yes but Nintendo is one of the only game companies that doesn’t stuff their games full of microtransactions and lay off employees after record sales to boost the ceo paycheck, that’s where real corporate greed is at imo
