Got the exterior neckline attached to its velcro facing, and did a thick edge-stitch. Excited to have that detail there, and looking forward to doing more. I think I'm on track for finishing Partner's birthday dress on time #sewsky

Heels turned on my socks! I'm enjoying doing 2 at a time to keep them even. Love that the orange and yellow have come in, and I see more black and white coming soon. #knitsky #showmeyourknits

Scamp is the most meticulously groomed cat I have ever known, silky smooth coat - and yet he has some of the silliest bleps #catsofbluesky

There's something happening here But what it is ain't exactly clear There's a man with a gun over there Telling me I got to beware There's battle lines being drawn Nobody's right if everybody's wrong Young people speaking their minds Getting so much resistance from behind

Today is about Sewing hook&loop tape so far. I got one facing sewn on to the lining side, and I've basted the other side to be attached to the exterior fabric, this will make a clamshell of velcro around the neckline for attachment of the hood. #sewsky

So excited for @georgetakei.bsky.social's biographical comic! Happy Pride, Uncle George! Your strength in the face of adversity has been such an inspiration to me. Thank you!

After seeing how the rayon interacted with the weight of the giant zipper, I decided to add a muslin interlining. I sewed it on to the lining... in hindsight I could have flat-lined it to the outer fabric to make it easier on myself, but I want the modesty panel to be supported too #sewsky

My fabric stash has been in-fur-trated. I'm not mad though, as either Carmen or her twin brother caught and killed a deer mouse that had gotten into the house. The last time we had a mouse, it had managed to evade all 5 cats for 2 months or more until we caught it with a trap #catsofbluesky

Afternoon nap with my boys. #catsofbluesky

Assembled the lining for Partner's dress, including a patch pocket on the silver modesty panel. Zipper is only pinned on right now to check if I need more structure (such as an interlining) in through the shoulders to support the weight of this massive zipper. #sewsky

Mended my favorite pair of tabi last night. Thought I'd try Swiss Darning/duplicate stitch. Left toe is regular woven darning, right toe is swiss. #visiblemending #sewsk6

I'm really enjoying the effect of this self striping yarn, even if the first black and white section wound up inside the folder-over cuff. Also, I tried them on, and they're just the right amount of thick and snug. Next is the heel. #knitsky #showmeyourknits

One of my crow friends passed away last night in our front yard. I've made a report to WDFW in case they want to come test it for birdflu. I'm so glad I've been keeping my cats indoors. Keep your kits safe, folks. #catsofbluesky

Partner decided that the modesty panel (behind the giant zipper) should be gray. I flipped through my Dharma fabric swatches and saw that they offer a rayon satin. I ordered a yard and dyed a fat quarter with "silver lining" for a robotic inner body. #sewsky. It's super metallic and pretty

Finally got my 80cm circular needles. Still not a fan of magic loop on them, but now that I have 2 sets of both sizes, I'm able to use the 60cm together with the 80 to still do 2aat, so I got my second pair of socks cast on and a few rows of ribbing done tonight. #knitsky #showmeyourknits

3/5 of my cats have a licking response to scritches, but Tajin's is by far the strongest and most ridiculous #catsofbluesky

To satin ribbon, or not to ribbon. That is the question. Found this fun riveted lace at Michael's spent the rest of the day sewing it in, first by machine, then hand stitching the cut edges. If I do add the ribbon, I think it'll be by machine, my hands are getting tired. #sewsky

I need YOUR HELP! I love making fun little videos like this, but to make this sustainable to live on I need you to share it with a friend, your mom, your neighbor anyone who would enjoy it. Bonus! Sharing costs nothing but a moment of your time. THANK YOU youtu.be/lGU3A0Jufks

Carmen has joined her brother. #catsofbluesky And here I was excited to try insertion lace #sewsky

Scamp is doing his best fabric weight impersonation. #sewsky #catsofbluesky

Took the better part of last night and today to hand hem and scallop the ruffle, but gathering and attaching went pretty quick. Totally worth it. I'm thinking about adding some insertion lace, and not sure if I want to add the satin ribbon over the tuck that is the attachment seam. #sewsky

Finished the first pass at the hem, and now I'm working on doing some Edwardian style scallops/shells. I ran a quick gather over the part I've done so I can get a preview of what the ruffle will look like. #sewsky #handstitching

Partway through hemming a 10ft ruffle, I decided to whip up a makeshift hemming bird. #sewsky

Hand hemmed the sleeves for Partner's birthday dress. I find these tiny rolled hems to be very meditative. #sewsky

#sewsky I wound up getting the entire mock-up together last night. The fit was mostly great, if a teeny bit tight in the bust, and I mis estimated how long the skirt would be on Partner, who's decently tall, so I have to extend down for extra coverage and extra swish.

Ears are sewn, sleeves are cut, underskirt is in progress, and zipper arrived. All of the black pieces of Partner's birthday dress are in motion. Thriftshop sheets acquired and washed for full-size mock-up. #sewsky

The zipper has arrived. It's a #30, so I included my scissors and measuring tape for scale. Any guesses o. The character yet? Hint: tacos are not worth the mission #sewsky

Pattern for Partner's birthday dress drafted in full size. I'm amused that the hood (right) is just as big as the skirt (left, arranged to match at the hip line) the zipper is out for delivery, so I just gotta run to the thriftshop for a sheet to cut the full-sized mock-up from. #sewsky

Did some #visiblemending this evening while watching YT. I did the rainbow woven darning first, and then when this super thin knit started to make more holes next to my work, I bound the edge with a blanket stitch and got lazy for the other repairs. Already 2nd-hand shirt given more life #sewsky

#showmeyourknits #knitsky New yarn arrived and I immediately wound them into two balls each for 2aat socks! Excited to try it. Still debating if I want to add any lace or cable details on these pairs.

Partner's dress planning progress. I think I'm going to make the back hem even lower to really exaggerate the hi-lo. I'm planning on making the hood a bit wider so that it joins the front bodice at the same yoke line. I also have to figure out what mechanism for the hood to be detachable #sewsky

Partner's birthday dress planning underway. Giant zipper ordered and should be here before the end of the month. Light green is final fabric, using scraps to plan out mini version. Based on color and zipper, can you guess the character? #sewsky #garmentsewing

POV, trying to work on Partner's birthday dress when a needy baby rushes in and tries to bury himself in my neck

#showmeyourknits #knitsky Finished my first pair of socks! Since my toes are relatively straight, I changed the pattern so that I reduce every row vs every other row like in the book. Now I only need to learn shoemaking so I can wear 100% #memade head to toe

2nd sock just needs to sewn closed at the toe! #knitsky I made some adjustments from the pattern, namely making it wider to better fit my feet, and opting for a different shape for the toe. @natorijen.bsky.social I have needles and yarn on order for my next pair to be 2aat, so pattern links pls!

Body is stuffed and mounted for my mini-partner dress form. I only have to stuff and cap the arm, then I can start planning their birthday dress. I've got a little less than a month and a half to make it, so I'm feeling pretty good. #sewsky Bonus: it's stuffed with scraps from past projects

Today, I sewed the fabric arm, basted a layer of batting inside the whole form, and capped the armscyes with yardstick. This way, I can hold the arm on with a magnet or remove it. Next is finding a base for its stand, then capping the other openings and stuffing it. #sewsky

Trying to wrap my head around the geometry of a sleeve head, learning how much ease I need to gather into the armscye for the sleeve to curve around the shoulder. #sewsky

My boys sure are snuggly today, even if it means me having to hold 27 pounds of cat. #catsofbluesky

There's a cheeky squirrel taunting Carmen in the catio today. #catsofbluesky

I made a mini Partner! I want to be able to experiment with designs but do it at a smaller size to reduce fabric waste while I play. I scaled the bodice block I'd drafted down by swapping out cm for in, so it's a 1:2.54 scale model. I think I'll make a mini me too #sewsky
