He’s the Reality TV President, he wants a Reality TV Army.

I would not be surprised if he starts to irrationally lash out at the French, especially Macron, since it was the military parade in France and how impressed he was that initially gave him the idea to have a big one of his own. That jealously will be all consuming for him now that his parade flopped

As in most modern militaries, marching, drill practice and parades are a common part of basic training to build discipline, team coordination and attention to detail, but afterwards the main focus is on the skills which are actually part of your job, the thing you’re actually there to do.

The joy of the wet fart of his military parade is going to swiftly be drowned out by ceaseless news coverage about how wokeism has caused the military to become an embarrassment, and that clearly more defence funding needed because everything looked so cheap. And they’ll pin it on a woman or POC.

What’s puzzling is they use the correct phrasing in the title of the video “Florida Sheriff threatens to kill violent protestors”. Like that’s perfect, to the point, active voice, succinct. Why then passively use polite euphemisms when covering law enforcement actively encouraging murder?

It’s like people forget that police should never kill anyone unless it’s literally life-or-death for the officers and nearby civilians, and even then they should seek any other form of non-lethal deescalation. Announcing that he intends to kill given the chance should at minimum lose him his job.

Out of morbid curiosity read the comments on the Fox News article covering the assassinations. Majority of posters seem almost giddy by the news, that this the Dems getting their just desserts. It’s a dark window into the abyss of a movement hellbent on the destruction of decency, compassion & truth

Pretty solid proof that the MAGA movement dies with Trump.

Would be also relevant to mention that Hockey joined in Trump’s efforts to cast doubt on the 2020 election results by expressing skepticism of the D.C. vote distribution. Again, important information to contextualise where his loyalties lie.

It’d be great if journalists lead with the most important details first. No problem saying he was the former ambassador to the US, it’s relevant to his perspective and experience, but that was years ago and should be mentioned in the following paragraph. Start with what he’s doing *now*.

That kinda the subtext, although you could guarantee the Justice Department would limit put their thumb on the scales limiting a fair discovery process.

Still strange that Trump, the most prettily litigious man alive, hasn’t sued Musk over the pedophile allegations.

Things to do when visiting the UK:
- See a West End show
- Visit Stonehenge
- Experience iconic London landmarks like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London
- Witness the shock and awe tactics of the newly formed Police State

Feels like at *best* you’re going to see is the country splitting into several independent states. The ideological divides and contempt different parts of America have for each other is irreparable, especially when entire industries exists to fuel the flames.

Weird how the center is only allowed to shift in one direction. I feel I’m being perceived as much more left wing every year, even though my views haven’t really changed and I consider myself pretty moderate.

Weird that people’s values and beliefs require constant validation and become outright hostile when challenged. It’s always important to self reflect on any unconscious bias or ignorance, but you should be comfortable standing up for the core tenants of your beliefs instead of being overly defensive

I agree, as a software engineer, I have on occasion used LLM solutions to solve problems that a) I already know how to do, but would take significantly more time to do manually, and b) I have the knowledge to verify the result is actually correct. It’s can be time saver, but not worth its cost.

The example I use that most people relate to is that if you use a GPS App on your phone to drive somewhere unfamiliar, and are then asked to drive home without it, there’s a good chance you’ll get lost since your brain didn’t need to focus on your spatial surroundings. AI is the same for learning.

Even from the traditional fiscal conservative perspective, these types of large scale, sweeping and massively disruptive raids and policies are economically ruinous. The hypocrisy of the right, using big government to sabotage the economy for their racist endgames.

The only thing I take exception to is the idea that Musk could take out Trump. Maybe it’s just me, but it seemed obvious Musk was always going to lose, I don’t see how things could go differently.

I’ve noticed it’s actually not that rare with folks from the UK, where anti-trans sentiments have become deeply ingrained on both sides of the political aisle, where life-long progressive Labour voters spout the same bigoted bile but with added polite pseudo-intellectualism.

Recruiting brutes to strong-arm migrants for money is easy to recruit for, no skills required. Lawyers to prosecute their deportation on the other hand? That’s the logistical nightmare and precisely why they want to eliminate due process.

I think Trump underestimated how useful it would be to put Elon’s face on all the unpopular decisions the admin was making, and also Musk’s willingness to claim responsibility. Headlines all blaming Musk first, less heat on the rest extended his value to them. But now he’s outlived that usefulness.

So I have no reference point for what it must be like to be trans, as much as I try to imagine what it must be like, I can’t understand it beyond an abstract, conceptual level. So I defer to trans people as the authority and don’t try to constantly undermine or second guess. Not that hard really.

I think the one that always got me was “how dare the Greens deliberately target seats held by progressive Labor MPs. They should be vying for LNP-held seats, not *us*”.
I didn’t make many friends for saying “Why? That’s what I’d do if I was smart and wanted a chance at getting elected.”

Labor better remember the same courtesy would never be afforded to them if roles were reversed. They’re in the unique position to comfortably plot their own destiny. Don’t try and win over folks who will never support them.

For once I’d wish someone would point out that the cost and red tape to police 100% of welfare recipients costs significantly more than what the 2% of people who abuse the system stand to gain. If you’re looking for efficiency, there’s your low hanging fruit.
