So even if AI wins out for a bit. People will always return back to the place where humans have to collide to create, because there is something special happening there. In amongst the disagreements, the alignments, the crazy emotions, the bad ideas that turn out good. That is our story.

And I'm sure if you ask anyone that has been involved in those things as to whether they want to be part of the memories/wrap party for a properly created TV series, or for one that has been generated out by a lone worker in their bedroom —it's an easy answer. Many things are lost in the latter.

There is always a ceiling to the AI's complexity handling. Something that humans still far outstretch by. Even if computers get amazing at crunching numbers, words and pixels —far beyond what they can do now. They still won't have that heart which we can't even explain.

My saving thought is that no matter how good these mimics get, they still won't have that artistic/intelligent quality that creators, writers, coders, actors, painters, singers, set builders all bring to their work. And from what I've read AI can and will never get to that. It is indefinable.

As someone who has loved attempting to tell stories, I find this such a mixed feeling. I am pulled towards wanting to make my own videos, but NOT at the cost of entire industries and people's jobs. Even if AI is used, people still need to be involved at every level.
comment in response to post
The videos still have that AI quality, which is good. It should be made illegal for that quality to ever be dropped. But I doubt anyone will listen to that.

But I'm sure that it won't be long. And then you'd be getting to a place where you could create your own short films with almost no budget/people at all. Many keep going on about AI getting rid of coders, but it seems to be doing more against actors & those in the film industry than anything else.

Feeding that into Veo 3 gives the above. I didn't have any control on her voice, but it took my description and words and did quite a good job. Her movements are believable too. As usual, the blocker —thankfully— to this being a replacement for anything is being able to standardise between videos.

This video is showing Distance travelling by Trip (a canal-based train) she's talking about a recent anomalous run-in at the botanical gardens. I've built up her appearance from sketches over years, I can now take those sketches & render a colour photo using my own trained open source models, then

And may your doors always be wise, historic and not do that annoying thing of always swinging open or closed, completely at odds to physics, gravity and/or plot lines.

I find I've made a deal with the right and wrong words. Sometimes they'll tell me which is which, other times I'll have to employ logic reserved for soothsayers and guardians of secret doors. Then there's that realisation some words only decide what to be when light hits at the right or wrong angle.

Now you tell me! Can we tack "from the afterlife" on the end, or am I too late? I might also need a "mutter with the constant expression of baffled surprise" option too.

The software allows me to link the tablet to my laptop/PC, where I have most of my graphics software. Software on tablets —whilst fine for sketching— is usually missing a lot of features & connectivity abilities. Pairing to my computer helps immensely in getting things done, and my #teowad artwork.

But the newer tablets where either too small (and so affordable) or a massive jump up in price and features beyond what I needed. So, instead, I opted to get a normal cheaper tablet (but one that had a pressure sensitive stylus). An XP Pen. And paid a small amount for an app called EasyCanvas.

What you don't see here is: Haterade • Friends Don't Lie ...came on, and I just had to leave things be. Music was gently mocking me with its focus inducing notes & subtle #scifi fantasy charms. I'm now back to writing, and the music is being much more respectful of boundaries. #writingcommunity

This is now just getting silly: Robby East • Melody For The Misfits Rescue Me • Stonebank & EMEL Sultan + Shepard • Something, Everything I must have backed into a playlist that emotes science fantasy. Either that or my selective attention and confirmation biases are overworked and underpaid.

Yes, I've been able to enable. And the other good news is the prior accounts that were sending odd messages have been deleted. Good.

Thanks. Yes, I do. I disabled chat here because of strange bot-like creatures that stalk in the neverlight. But can re-enable to sort out useful things :) I'll see if I can do it shortly. Uncertain. But if not, I can definitely do later this evening. Realise that term is relative for a globe planet.

5. Misunderstanding lists... that seem simple enough, until you really start to think about them, and notice it might, be because you're avoiding something else, that's just bad an' unfair, but then you actually think, nah.. forget it, yo, Holmes, to Bel-air!
comment in response to post
Thank you, that's really considerate & very helpful. I will take you up on that offer, though I'm not quite ready just yet. It's been my understanding it's best to have my work beta read first, not sure if that's correct. But either way, I do still have parts to finish off. I am interested however.

I don't look forward to the choice, but I do look forward to working w/ someone more consistently. Writing a novel is not something I can easily talk about w/ anyone I know—people have strange reactions. I only hope when I share the whole book I don't get professionals backing away smiling weirdly.
comment in response to post
Right now, I do everything myself. Though I started getting help from a critiquing community for per scene feedback, which has been great. But I do find it difficult confiding in others —weird for a writer, right? :) But I know I'll soon get to a point where I'll need a book/editing domain expert.

I've been living w/ the story for a while, so I don't find the idea overwhelming. But making sure we have enough time w/ each character is tricky—when trying to keep things on point, non-repeat & fun. Late-night ideas are the best :D How did you discover/plan your twists? I love twists in a story

That's an amazing achievement! I often feel others don't realise how much is involved in novel writing (many hidden facets) I can't even imagine finishing 11 books. I'll be happy enough when I get one out the door—although that won't last if I don't get the others there too :) Thank you very much!

Thank you E.Q. really nice! I have a plan but this is all new, so don't know how likely it is. Never gone through formal editing process before & am still working on my marketing ideas. Hoping to have episode 1 for the new year, but kids & day job always beg to differ. How are your projects going?
comment in response to post
Thanks Ella, when I started I had no idea how complex pro writing was. I started bc I had to, too many notes/tonal images in my head. The story has evolved over years to being planned over 3 books. Where teowad was 1 book. So now the whole arc must be 9 books?? Madness :) How's your journey going?

Anyway, that's enough warbling from me. Until people actually see a book, I don't think anyone'll care about this much. But considering I don't have many avenues to discuss this —it helps talking out loud on a keyboard into the vast ever-swaying sometimes-crashing arcing expanse of the interweb.

And my favourite win is that I don't have to kill my darlings. Which is the main reason why I'm worrying about it too. Because I've been told from many perspectives that I'll have to do that. So either I didn't have enough darlings to start with, or I'm going to find out I was wrong using episodes

- Each book is now around 80,000 words, which I'm told is much better for a newbie who has no real following except his own narration, thoughts, & background music. - I get to be able to release one of those books far sooner than I ever thought, as episode one is essentially complete (barring edit).

The only real down side I can see from this are: - It perhaps diminishes the potency of the point of the title. - I now have three covers to design, not one. - the first two books may end up not leaving readers wanting more (but that is just my imposter/paranoia, I think...) There are real benefits
comment in response to post
That doesn't mean I haven't got work to do in tidying up the edges, reworking the surfaces and generally giving everything a spring clean of test reading and serious contracted editing. But... the three episode each have a proper arc, and they work well separated, at least in my humble opinion.

The lucky (or accidentally planned) thing for me, is that I learned early on the power of threes. I can't remember when, but it was some time after the transmogrification of 42 but before the energy of eights, and absolutely nothing to do with 11:11. And #teowad easily splits into three.
comment in response to post
That might seem like a cop out & I'm fully aware (based on my early writing) that there are lots of stories out there that would've benefitted from reduction. Perhaps an editor will still tell me this & disabuse me of my delusion. But in the words of multiple artists I'll use my illusion for now...

So I went through a bit of a darker patch. But I have long since learned not to let myself do that, because all sorts of things stop working in the universe, & maintenance bills start to go through the roof. So I thought about reframing the problem. I decided to look at episodes. #selfpublishing
comment in response to post
Despite the definite positive influence that #1000wordsofsummer had, in getting me past some of my blockers —I was rapidly realising I was writing too much, and still had some key scenes to get completed. I have reduced in many areas, but I cannot delete a character or remove any massive chunks...

Hi M. Kasten, thanks for the likes & repost! 🙇🎩 I don't, but feel I'm close. Although I've thought that before :) I'm currently working on all the other elements to do with self publishing, and splitting the first book into three (it got too big). I see you've published _a lot_, very impressive!

Absolutely. The person/team doing the adaptation either needs to be fans of the original work, or those who understand the core of the idea. In fact I've seen some brilliant ideas added when adapting, that feel like natural extensions —especially when what's on the page can't work easily visually..

How about yourself? What was your inspiration & potential difficulties with your latest work? My challenges have always been finding time between kids & work and then having random plot issues ambush me when I least expect them. Which—for me—usually needs a proper break from writing to solve them.

I've been working for years to thread them into an overarching plot across a series, which I'm pretty much getting there now. As in, I have the overarching story I'm happy with, and I'm nearing the completion of the manuscript for book 1... Its a really nice feeling to be finally getting somewhere.
