Why not just introduce a £2 million limit? It's simple: you get taxed at 100% if you've got more than £2 million, and we redistribute it where it's needed. You still have £2 million. And we solve poverty without needing a 2 child limit.

1 in 5 of people living on household incomes under £25k never use the internet – rising to nearly a third of disabled people & nearly half of those aged 65+. We’ve published a new @BritishAcademy_ review of digital exclusion to consider how to tackle this...

This is great, pastor of Cork's famous St Anne's church is running meet-ups for people over pints in one of Cork's best bars...

“Immigration, mostly from outside the EU, surged due to Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal. Net migration rose from 184,000 in 2019 to 906,000 in 2023. It was a gift to Nigel Farage” www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/politics/the...

Mainstream Western parties have to find new ways of talking to young people, and first-time male voters in particular. They’re a major source of popular discontent, not only in Germany but also in the US, the UK, and elsewhere.

Keir Starmer, "Russia menaces our online spaces" "Do you want to know what Nigel Farage and Reform are doing on their rare visits to parliament?" "They're voting against our employment rights bill" "They are not the answer for people in Britain"

Leaving the EU was fucking nuts at the best of times. It now looks like the height of insanity.

Wow! What a great cover!

🚨🚨🚨 PSA- Gov. Braun has banned the distribution of the Imagination Station books in Indiana. For those who do not know, Imagination Station is a program started by Dolly Parton which provides a free book each month to children from 0-5. 1/2

CRYSTAL PALACE, we have drawn you, so strap in for a wonky thread of substandard doodles of Cap'n Glasner & friends. P.S. This is our first batch of drawings since we jumped ship from Twitter, so if you know any Palace fans who might enjoy this stupidity please do point them our way x

Companies behind Great Britain’s gas pipes and power lines pocketed £3.9bn "excess profits” over the past four years after Ofgem misjudged their costs. Will we get a refund - no chance. Ofgem doesn't protect people. Need customer elected directors on the boards of all utilities.

I might have to buy this.

Want to go visit the national parks this year? Sorry. The reservation system is shut down, EMT personnel are gone, so don't get hurt or lost. No one can clean the bathrooms or cabins, so they'll be closed. Rangers are fired. www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/arti...

so far going anti-woke leads to less money and planes falling out of the sky

This is Tux. He is the cutest black hole we have ever seen. And we thought you should see him too. 12/10

Amazing letter sent to schools by ex-Watergate Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox in answer to questions as to what lessons Americans should learn from Watergate.

Labour is upping the ante on anti-migrant politics just to learn that Farage & the Tories can always, always go further than them. It’s real people who are caught in the crossfire of politicians trying to outdo each other on toughness. How we treat people matters. #r4today

On this day in 1982, Ipswich Town manager Bobby Robson is told that his title rival from the previous season, Ron Saunders, has resigned from his job at Aston Villa. His initial shocked reaction is followed by genuine empathy. Sir Bobby was a class act.

Closer economic ties with the European Union will boost growth by up to 2.2 per cent, according to new economic modelling shared with members of the cabinet If Labour’s mission truely is “growth” they need to have an honest discussion with the public about this www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

My heart

The message of Trump tariffs to Britain: no matter how good a friend you imagine yourself to be to the United States - your only security against the malignity of Trump is to belong to a big trading bloc that can impose painful retaliation against Trump's trade aggressions.

🚨🚨 So five years since #brexit and I think it is time reshare Daniel Hannan's absolutely insane and delusional vision of grandeur and hubris that characterised the true engineers and believers of #brexit. Here comes the #brexit insanity No 1 🧵 www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p...

Lovely moment as @angelaeagle1.bsky.social recalls telling John Prescott, when he was her boss, that she was going to ‘come out’ “Tell me something I didn’t already know, love!” he replied - then gave her a hug

Why do people have weddings - all evidence seems to be that they hate them & most of the people they invite. You know they’re not compulsory?

The first time I ever travelled first class on a train, I was amazed that they had complimentary chocolate bars on the tables. I ate mine & then the man whose chair I was sat in came back & demanded to know why I had eaten his chocolate bar. Mortified.

Hospitality firms ‘to incur £1bn costs from employer NICs on 774,000 more workers’

If you ask me this makes it too easy.

It's been quite something to watch supposedly 'patriotic' British newspapers actively cheerleading on a foreign administration that is openly working against our interests.

Dear Ms Truss, Please send me a similar legal letter and I will be glad to repeat the allegation without Parliamentary Privilege.

Why don't more understand it doesn't matter how much you align for goods "made" in UK if you allow other (imported) crap onto your market? The EU will still here need to maximise *its* border contols/checks against UK on this (shite allowed on UK market) basis www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

It’s 30 years since Birmingham netted a late equaliser at Anfield in the FA Cup. Enjoy some vintage Barry Davies, with Stevie Claridge and Ricky Otto in the Brolin-Dahlin roles...

Amazing Scholz’s disastrous career captured in a single shot

Oakshott leaving the UK because of VAT on private school fees is surely a huge endorsement for the policy.

Can a headline alone be eligible for a Pulitzer?
