So many movies feature a corrupt leader ordering illegal acts. Total Recall for one (shooting people rioting for food). Maybe it's ingrained enough in our culture that people finally see it for what it is

I'm basically 20 years her senior and didn't pay much attention when she came along. Then I saw her play and sing live like this and I was awed.

I find it disgusting and ironic that M*sk continually directs the 'R-word' slur at others when he is clearly 'on the spectrum' himself.

It's probably in my top 5 films. Top 10 for sure. A lot of that has to do with Richard Harris and Oliver Reed, but also the script overall. Hmm, a general who becomes a slave and challenges a corrupt emperor. My kinda narrative!

Thank you Senator. As your constituent I beg you to keep fighting the good fight.
- Protect the IRS from the DOGE Stooges
- Stop Kash Patel's confirmation
- Protect the Department of Education
- Support Ukraine
And the rest! Talk to your R colleagues. Whatever it takes.

LOL. Bluesky is what Twitter was at the beginning, only better. Tons of interesting, accomplished people to follow, on many topics that appeal to me. Twitter turned into a cesspool of crypto-bot-bros and hate mongers with nothing interesting to say. No-one is influencing them with reasoned argument

Being indiscriminately fired and then asked to come back is a HUGE morale builder. It really creates an environment of respect and employee loyalty. 🙄

"The illiberal left" sounds ad hominem. As you say, how about a definition? It's Trumpian, like "The unselect committee" on J6 to name one.
It's writers like this that drove me to cancel The Atlantic.

It's a typical bullshit answer. Digging through the word salad double-talk, I heard "trust us, there won't be conflicts" and also a plug for their little TeeVee show with Hannity (guh - I just threw up in my mouth a little).

Thanks! Same to you. I'm against AI for 'the arts' as a person who has worked in them. But I have also worked in tech hence the coding and networks examples. I've also read about AI used, for example, to spot skin cancer better than a Dr. after being trained on pictures of skin (moles).

Sure, that was a bit dramatic on my part. It has utility for some things but in my view is wildly over-hyped and focused on the wrong things. If you want it to draft some code you later tidy up, or monitor your network, great. When it comes to art, music, film, writing I want nothing to do with it.

Good call. I find AI defenders to be (a large group of) people who want to make a ton of money on AI, or (a smaller group of) people who are naïve enough to think it will help them do their jobs better.

Had a similar thought but ultimately disagree. The Cybertruck is no more useful to a roofer than a Subaru. If he's driving a well used F350 piled with roofing materials I'd give him a pass. In other words, a Cybertruck is a nearly useless 'show' car, not a work truck.

AI is already having a negative effect on human cognitive skills. Read for yourself, think for yourself, write for yourself.
