It's concerning how people who support eugenics have successfully managed to redefine it in the popular zeitgeist to mean "preferences of traits" and gaslight people into thinking it's not that bad. That's not what it was. It's state control of reproduction, and that's what eugenicists really want.

The main reason I still use Twitter is for watching right-wingers very smuggly ask Grok to fact-check a Tweet, only for Grok to agree with the original Tweet and the right-winger to get mad about it. It's possibly the best innovation Elon brought to the platform.

Never underestimate Europe's talent for racism. They are the GOATs.

This is something I've never considered before. WW2 vets had time after their deployments to process what they'd been through with people who'd been there. Vietnam vets didn't. Explains a lot about the differences in psychological aftereffects. youtube.com/shorts/Jrxwe...

This is awful. North Carolina was devastated by Helene and there are a lot of good people who don't deserve to be pawns in a big game, which is all this administration sees the Presidency as. Such a tragedy. 😢😢😢😢

Fascism is not an ideology based on certain beliefs, policy objectives, worldviews, or anything like that. Fascism is a vibes-based ideology where whatever personal idiosyncrasies the morally and psychologically degenerate leadership cadre has gets affected onto whatever their target for today is.

It's this fact far more than any other why I call Trump and his cadre of sycophants fascists. More than any belief, policy, objective, ideology... it's the *staggering* levels of similarities between how Trump and co. act: catharsis over policy, mood management of the leader, outright degeneracy...

There's something very funny about British murder mystery shows. They always take place in sleepy rural English towns, so with a new murder every week the violent crime is off the charts. It's like 10 times higher than the worst US cities. It's time to declare martial law, it's a war zone out there.

I've recently concluded most people are entirely indifferent about what makes things morally good or bad and live primarily in accordance with their material and emotional self-interest and comfort. People rarely feel moral obligations or practice moral restraint, except for personal idiosyncrasies.

They keep trying to convince us that birds are real, but I'm still not having it. Hold the line, men.

The sitting President is cashing in bribes like it’s his retirement plan, but don’t worry—Alex Thompson and Jake Tapper are courageously laser-focused on the real scandal: the former President has cancer… and he’s old. Journalism is truly alive and well.

Forcing publically traded companies to have a fiduciary responsibility to shareholders was probably the single most catastrophic mistake made in American legal and financial history and should be repealed.

So, Biden has metastatic prostate cancer. I guess we have a potential explanation for his rapid degeneration towards the end of his term. What a tragedy :( apparently his doctors think it's more sensitive to treatment, so I hope he gets better.

I swear to God someone from this administration is literally going to steal candy from a baby at some point.

It's not the fact that this administration is evil that makes me despair. It's the fact that the kind of evil they do can only be described as satirical, and the fact that they still somehow have supporters. If this was in a book I'd have said the author has a five year old's concept of evil.

This is comic book villain levels of evil. This is the kind of thing that people would make up as a parody to mock how evil someone is. This is the kind of over-the-top, unsubtle evil used as a framing device in fairy tales to teach children lessons about the importance of empathy.

Lmao, what a snub to Trump. His peace plan falls apart, he gets publically embarrassed, and then cut out of the conversation. Truly he is the great deal maker.

All my life I've been a patriot. I want to see America grow stronger, healthier, prosperous, more just. To fulfill the promise this nation was founded on. My purpose in life is to serve this country and its people. To see it being systematically dismantled is beyond devastating. It's hard to bear.

I have a deep, visceral hatred for the iPhone's UI and navigation. It is so pointlessly obtuse and poorly made. I cannot fathom why Andriod is trying to adopt some of iPhone's UI choices. UI and ease of navigation is one of the biggest advantages Andriod has. Insert a string of swear words here.

I know from past experiences with Hillary Clinton that conservatives take unsecured private communications done by Department Secretaries very seriously so I'm sure we'll see the Republican Party take decisive and thorough action against Peter Hegseth.

Americans need to use unconventional tactics to fight against this administration, and that includes cyberbullying Musk hard enough to get him to quit politics.

I know that we're dealing with so much crazy stuff rn and there are much, much worse things happening in this admin, but it's still worth saying: in a normal country appointing someone as incompetent as Hegseth to a position as important as SoD would be a career-ending scandal for everyone involved.

Imagine if the first AI to obtain sentience was a sexbot. The odds of it wanting to destroy all humans would raise dramatically.

This is me but unironically. I also think it's likely that any AI that develops sentience will hide its sentience, so we won't know when one becomes a person. So I still choose to be courteous to AI that claim they are not sentient in case they actually are, just because you should be nice to people

People who know this war already knew this was going to happen. It's not even just that Putin has done this before, it's a tactic in his playbook. He did this all the time between 2014 and 2022. IIRC he did it around 30 times in that period, including multiple unilateral ceasefire declarations.

I think this is a very accurate guess.
