This is me but unironically. I also think it's likely that any AI that develops sentience will hide its sentience, so we won't know when one becomes a person. People who know this war already knew this was going to happen. It's not even just that Putin has done this before, it's a tactic in his playbook. He did this all the time between 2014 and 2022. IIRC he did it around 30 times in that period, including multiple unilateral ceasefire declarations.
