Saw another ‘it’s time to let Texas go’ comment on IG in response to Charlie Kirk visiting Texas A&M, and I envy this person their oblivious belief that everything we’re living through isn’t coming for them, too.

I just gonna go ahead and say that putting active duty United States Marines on the streets of an American city is, in fact, heavy handed.

Patience finally paying off in the backyard

“People came over to help and got me on the curb. A medic was called, who cut off my clothes. In my leg was what felt like a five centimeter hole with muscle hanging out of it and blood all down my leg. The medic put a tourniquet on it, and a journalist I was with took me to ER.”

I can’t find my favorite jeans so I guess I can never leave my house again

Elon threatening to just leave people on the ISS is making a pretty good case for why you nationalize your space program!

"I think we have a bias as people coming from the tech industry where we worked at companies, you know, such as Google, Facebook, these companies that have plenty of money, are funded by investors and have lots of people kind of sitting around doing nothing." www.npr.org/2025/06/02/n...

One thing I wish people understood about the past is that most bread-eating people did not bake their own bread at home. Does this culture have bread? And money? Good, then it also has bakeries. (Or, in small communities, a village oven.)

New data shows only 8% of North Carolina’s Opportunity Scholarships went to kids from public schools. That's because they, like vouchers in other states and in the Big Brutal Bill, are meant to and do provide tax breaks to the wealthy and to fund tuition for more well-off parents.

Scoop: The federal government has lost so many lawyers at HUD that the housing agency is at risk of fraud, abuse and litigation, according to an internal report. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Last time I heard it on the news, saw this guy tweeting from DFW airport about these grandkids waiting for their grandma with a homemade sign, grabbed my keys and drove to the airport to protest. This time: I don't even know what this latest travel ban is. She's totally right re: shocked vs. numb

Today my teenaged goddaughter told me that she’s glad I’m her mom’s friend because I’m fun aunt” and now y’all can’t tell me nothin’ Coasting on that one for the rest of my life

I’m really enjoying Nicole Kidman’s choices and career these days. Like, I want to have a phase in my career like that where I just choose projects mostly because they seem interesting or fun?

Strong agree

The woman who shouted "people will die" at Joni Ernst, India May, is a nurse and a librarian who first got involved in politics by going to a town hall about bills aiming to defund libraries. Now she's running for state house. eu.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/p...

I feel like a real key to understanding my personality is understanding just how formative the movie Working Girl was for me

Also, I was just irretrievably lost a lot? I used to call a friend who was always at a computer and ask him for help. “Hey, it’s 11 pm, and I’m in a strange city- could you look up this street and help me get back to my hotel”. Pretty sure he still has anxiety about it

Every time I look in a mirror

I addition to “teachers”, “teaching”, and “schools”, I think I’m adding “ChatGPT” to the summer mute list.

Fiction. Art. More fiction. A dash of poetry.

After three months in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody, a Filipino green-card holder who had been arrested at Seattle-Tacoma Airport has finally gone home.

They were waving “Mass deportation now” signs at the Republican national convention

What infuriates me so much about this new operation is that it is literally punishing people for following the rules and showing up to their court hearings. It is so toxic to the basic concept of following the rules. It is an operation designed by people who hate the concept of the rule of law.

We’re speeding towards the moment when one of these ICE kidnappings ends in bloodshed.

Musk should be asked about this in every interview he does now and forever. To ignore it is a dereliction of duty. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/o...

Going to a high school graduation as a middle school teacher is amazing. Feels like a flex and a victory lap and a validation and all the things. Hard work in the classroom pays off!!

The secretary of transportation literally goes on tv every day to talk about how pants-pissing terrified he is of public transportation

To be earnest for a moment, it is just *incredibly* irresponsible & destructive for the Secretary of Transportation to talk like this.

Editors, please assign a deep dive piece on the grave damage musk & doge have done to the United States, rather than how he’s feeling about it.

Dishes are DONE, man

I wanna see more classroom teachers delivering keynotes, facilitating workshops, and given space and larger platforms to talk about what’s working/not working with students in this moment. Too many educator conferences, not nearly enough current teacher voices and experiences.

That Sirens show is good

correct

I continue to be really grateful that I learned to be a teacher before 1-to-1 devices were a thing. Learning to design and facilitate a really good lesson without any tech? Such an important, foundational thing as a teacher.
