Unfortunately a lot shit in the U.S. is in fact precedented.

How good we had it

🚨 Please help Mahmoud rebuild his business after it was destroyed. I can only imagine how hard it must be to see your livelihood, your dream, in rubble like this. I know any boost or contributions mean so much!

I try to keep commentary on Palestine out of my shares of the day but I gotta say I’d love to see a Zionist justification for bombing a fucking ice cream shop

When people talk about the "descent into fascism" there's a passive voice that misses that with every prison built, every budget dollar to police, every bomb paid for and dropped on Gaza, every student sanctioned for protest, every deportation, every border patrol, we laid the bricks one by one.

"Gulf of America" is just a loyalty test. It's a way of checking who is going to abrogate reality for no reason other than a cowardly refusal to stand up to the bully or an opportunistic willingness to toady up to one. Anyone who will call it that will help you round people up or look the other way.

We only know this man is in Gitmo because Noem tweeted a propaganda photo that included him and his sister saw it. He has no criminal record. He entered the US in January and immediately made an appointment with CBP to claim asylum. They sent him to a concentration camp bc of his basketball tattoo.

"I notice all too often those of us aligned with anti-fascism and anti-billionairism believe that anyone focusing on anything other than what we ourselves are focusing on is getting distracted."

Really important point here about the fact that many people don't really understand what's going on and why it matters. This is a lesson I've learned over and over again and it bears repeating. Naming things clearly and connecting with people around you about it is vital.

I’d like to sincerely thank various scholars and activists on Bluesky, especially Black scholars and activists, for giving me the language to express that “anti-DEI” means “segregationist”. That concept has been very helpful in forming my resolve to fight the efforts to re-segregate my university.

I wrote about the fascist nightmare of recent weeks, the entirely insufficient response by those who should be in opposition, and how I think we can be our own leaders. Embracing a diversity of oppositional method to face down a gang of thugs who hate all diversity. www.the-reframe.com/its/

Worked hard on this, and I hope it will be a useful resource for many. A beginner’s guide to Long COVID, with a discussion of mechanisms: www.thegauntlet.news/p/what-is-lo...

I agree. I am sure there's an assumption that this advice applies to able-bodied people only, which is a terrible assumption to make. Second, raising awareness, for everyone, is not to be discounted. I've learned so much online, including how sick and disabled people effectively organize online.

This is your regular reminder that there are as many ways to protest as there are people in the world. No one gets to tell anyone that what they are capable of isn't useful.

I wrote an article a while back about nondisabled people dismissing disability activism online as “slacktivism” rootedinrights.org/in-defense-o...

This is a great piece - no shade to OP! - but there’s also tremendous meaningful activism happening online, spearheaded by disabled & Black activists. The secret is to follow ppl like @sfdirewolf.bsky.social & @prisonculture.bsky.social who give you things to DO, not things to seethe about.

The plethora of smug "posting isn't activism!" comments are really starting to piss me off The physical spaces *we* (people 40+ in the UK) had that catalysed physical activism are gone; closed down, defunded, whatever Kids have no choice but to meet online. And now you're mocking them for it?

I know everyone loves this article right now and people absolutely should get off the internet and into the streets, if they can. But ALSO writing about and documenting fascism in an accessible way is vital work that is materially different from BlueAnon doombait.

And not even necessarily literally housebound but definitely pushed out of community and often abandoned or forgotten. As is the case with many chronically ill Disabled people. Who often make huge contributions through posting online.
