Love this & let's have diversity. But also let's remember that in the proper landscapes you can have the benefits of beech-family trees (important temperate keystone trees for forests and grasslands) the carbon collections AND bring stable food production into large cities, by choosing chestnuts)

For new readers of Le guin I highly recommend that if you read this book you continue through the entire series because the first 3 books were written & then she went back and read them and realized that she has so much internalized mysogany The sequels are stunning critiques of her own books

Portlanders: I want to hear more Ursula K Le Guin stories. One of mine is when I got to see her at Powell‘s she started her lecture by saying “when I turned 70 I decided if I was going to learn Latin it better be soon …”
