Consider: FTL dragons. They're hivemind pods of 5-10 bodies that travel through space. The adaptation that lets them maintain coherency over interplanetary distances is related to whatever space fantasy weirdness lets them travel FTL. This is the basis for interstellar civilization #writing #dragons
