No one is ever going to think "oh, she is being so extremely rude to our ancestors who died because they used "ne" in formal settings" if you don't use it, but it's better to practice negation in its full form than in its informal form ^^

Yep. But keep it in the informal setting. You can totally say "je sais pas" in a message to your friend on the phone. "Je viens pas", "il pleut pas". If it is in an informal conversation, you can totally drop it in written form ^^
