Labour MP condemns his party's 'devastating' benefit cuts Chris Webb, the MP for Blackpool South, has told Sky News the benefit changes are "not what any of us stood on" during the general election news.sky.com/story/new-la...

“The ‘nasty party’ is back — this time wearing a red rose.” 🌹 This is brutal. 👇

Kevin Bridges mocks Labour, "They after disabled people? That takes balls." "And through disabled people's doors. This is your fault, mate. You" "We could go after tax, avoid multinationals" "We could go after Vodafone, Starbucks, Amazon, Google" "But it's your fault, You"

Single disabled people are already four times more likely to be falling behind on their bills, six times more likely to go cold and nine times more likely to skip meals. Cuts will make things worse www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/politics/pol...

Dear Stephen Timms, Please can you clarify if an incurable, life-altering illness counts as a proper disability or not? Asking for a son ...

This is only the second season PNE have been drawn at home in four consecutive rounds of the FA Cup. The previous occasion was 1887/88 when we reached the final for the first time. Not looking for omens but ...

I never thought I would see the day when a Labour government punished the most vulnerable in society whilst letting the richest off their moral responsibility. Nye must be spinning in his grave ...

The Guardian view of Labour’s cruellest trick: selling welfare cuts as compassion | Editorial

Here's a radical idea, Starmer. Tax those who have excessive wealth, not those with nothing. Ask yourself what your namesake would have done, not what Thatcher would do.

The Aston Villa game comes 59 years to the day since PNE last appeared in the FA Cup 6th round. They lost 1-3 in a replay at Old Trafford following a 1-1 draw at Deepdale. Almost 100,000 fans saw the two matches - 37,000 at Deepdale and 60,000 in Manchester.

Amazed to learn that Starmer and Reeves believe denying PIP to my son and cutting his measly UC will cure his MS. Not what I voted for ...

First time in five seasons that two PNE players have reached double figures for goals in a season.

When my friend was in court for running a red light, I don't remember @lancashirepost.bsky.social mentioning the fact he had been sent off in their Sunday League three years previously. Journalists used to be taught to avoid non sequiturs ...

Alex Dawson and Howard Kendall made their final appearance for PNEFC OTD in 1967 in a 0-1 defeat at Crystal Palace. Alex went to Bury after 132 goals in 237 games, while Howard moved to Goodison and even greater fame with Everton.

Still up to your tricks I see, @royalmail.bsky.social Three first class letters sent Preston to Hull recently - 6 days, 9 days, 5 days to arrive. Can I suggest you get a new donkey for the Transpennine route?

President Donald Trump made numerous false and misleading claims in his Tuesday speech to a joint session of Congress. The falsehoods spanned a variety of topics, including the economy, climate, immigration and more. Here is a fact check of some of Trump’s statements.

This is my 57th season watching PNE but my first FA Cup quarter final so I going to enjoy every minute from now to the final whistle, whatever the scoreline.

Willie Cunningham was born 100 years ago today. Able to play in both fullback positions, he is second in the all time appearances list for PNE with 487 games. He remains the only North End player to captain his country at the World Cup finals, when he led Scotland in 1954 in Switzerland.

Andrew Hughes has become the 47th player to reach 250 games in all competitions for PNE.

PNE have gone ten league games unbeaten at home for the first time since 2014/15 (14 games).

350th senior club appearance for Liam Lindsay tonight. Well done, Liam.

Spot on

Former PNE goalkeeper David Brown has his 68th birthday today. He shared keeping duties with Alan Kelly in the 86/87 promotion side. Happy birthday, David.

Andrew Hughes has moved into 50th place for appearances for PNE. He has played 244 times and is likely to become the 47th player to reach the 250 mark in league and senior cup games.

Ryan Ledson has become the 83rd player to make 200 appearances for PNE following his substitute appearance vs Middlesbrough. Congratulations, Ryan.

-8C forecast tonight and +10C on Tuesday - definitely don't live in California ...

PNE have signed 129 players since the current director and former Advisor to the Owner joined the club. 81 on contract and 48 loans. Of those signings, three have been sold on for a significant fee: Cunningham, Robinson and Hugill.

Loving the contradictions a bit of snow brings. 'Is it safe for 3k people to travel from Manchester to Liverpool for football?' 'Good news! Both airports are open again so 10s of 1000s can travel to and from them'

Here are just some of the now deleted Tweets previously put out by the man Kemi Badenoch has just made an ennobled peer of the realm

Watching the highlights after the match and more one eyed commentary from @skyfootball.bsky.social but then we expected nothing else ...

OTD 1930, George Bargh scored a hat-trick as PNE thumped Cardiff City 7-0 at Deepdale. This match is one of 12 so far in which we have scored 4 or more goals against the Bluebirds. The biggest win was 9-0 in 1966, which featured hat-tricks for Ernie Hannigan and 3 in 3 minutes for Brian Godfrey

Just found out a letter I posted in Preston last Tuesday afternoon with a first class stamp arrived today. It only took six days to travel 100 miles. Disgraceful service @royalmail.bsky.social

Those fans who were traumatised by PNE's performance in losing to Whitley Bay in the FA Cup will not be helped to find out the game took place 35 years ago today ...

Jordan Storey goes level with Warren Joyce and Chris Lucketti on 210 appearances for PNE. Andrew Hughes matches Fred Else's total of 238 games for the club.

Ditto Tory and Reform voters in the UK. No NHS, state benefits, bus passes, State schools, food banks or any other socialist initiatives on a point of principle.

What a pleasure to watch PNE U18s overwhelm Liverpool U18s in the FA Youth Cup last night. Could easily have been six and they only allowed a couple of chances to the visitors. Theo Mawene and Max Wilson outstanding. Well done, lads and coach John Welsh.

It was great to see the force of nature that is Eric Jones looking so sprightly last night. Time spent with 'Tom Finney's understudy' is always such fun and he brings joy to so many with his stories of professional football in the 1950s.

Peter Quinn was born OTD in 1892. Signed from Blackpool in 1920, he went on to play exactly 100 games for PNE. He served in France during the Great War, where he won the Military Medal twice for bravery in battle. A war hero as well as an excellent footballer.

First time PNE have recorded three consecutive draws in league matches since August, 2022. Rotherham, Watford and Cardiff - all 0-0

OTD in 1976, PNE travelled to Anfield in the FA Cup and came away 3-0 winners. Not a shock result though but a First Round second replay victory against Crewe at a neutral venue. Wouldn't happy now because European football for the few is more important - apparently ...

Happy 62nd birthday to championship winning PNE captain Ian Bryson. Now a host in the Invincibles Lounge, Ian remains at the heart of the club.
