Sen. Strom Thurmond voted against the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, AND supported Jim Crow laws. Thurmond’s record for longest floor speech (in protest of the Civil Rights Act, no less!) was just broken by a Black man, my good friend Cory Booker. That’s America.

There is a reason I am so exhausted and ready to climb in bed at just 7:00 pm. A two car accident outside the house with one of the cars running into our front yard retaining wall. A several hour ordeal before it was all over. No one hurt thank goodness.

"Kitty Kitty" is the little stray who has lived on our cul-de-sac for nearly a year, sleeping under cars. It has now been living on my porch for over 5 months. Eats well with a little make shift shelter.
