leftists: that thing you teach us in school to be terrified of is happening historians: that thing is definitely happening star wars: here is a beat-for-beat breakdown of how the thing happens, but with pew pew lasers. we know you watched it news outlets: these protesters are out of control

Literally everything is possible if we show up.

I highly recommend this interview with @hazelweakly.me to technical people who are trying to figure out if LLMs can be used responsibly. Hazel has a take that is very different from how they are currently being used. I appreciated how this opened up my thinking.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

I’ve always found it frustrating when I have to repeat myself. And I’m beginning to understand that it’s one of the things that makes me ill-suited for certain roles. It turns out most humans benefit from hearing things repeatedly. When you don’t it enough, you don’t get what you want from people.

Just a reminder that Ironheart comes out tonight. they’re dropping 3 episodes at 9pm. This show didn’t get the best marketing and is currently being review bombed by loser incels that get overly emotional when characters don’t look like them on screen. Produced by Ryan Coogler. Go check it out.

This is my kinda energy. www.404media.co/fucklapd-com...

The judge who had her son murdered , The plot against Whitmer, Gabby Giffords We’ve been in the middle of political assassination n for years now and it’s just Whatever I guess?

it's happening! "The Secret Rules of the Terminal" is coming out tomorrow! here's the table of contents:

One thing I respect about Miller’s family is they will tell you at every step that they are NOT with the shit

Here's one thing we don't talk about enough. Worrying about tax rates *more* than all of the other shit going on is a very specific cultural conditioning. It's not just a general greedy rich people thing. I know a lot of people with money, and we literally don't talk about tax rates at all.

The Democratic Party leadership isn't about winning elections at all these days. They're expending all of their efforts just to keep their place as leaders. They have chosen holding on to power while things go to hell rather than acknowledging that they're not the leaders we need and stepping aside.

For some reason it feels important to me to take a more concrete stance on "banning" AI tech. I'm not opposed to banning. I don't think it'll work, but I'm not going to be a person that fights against it. If you all manage to successfully eliminate this tech, I'm not going to be mad about it.

Actually the solution is to stop paying the C-Suite extremely stupid amounts of money for terrible decisionmaking.

A significant portion of this is that they simply did not experience direct, meaningful consequences for their actions. We have privatized decisions and socialized the impact, and that’s how aristocracies/monarchies function

Oh shit.

If people really find this to be such an easy conclusion, then Congressional authority should be easy to get. So why don’t they insist on a vote? They know this isn’t “progressive” resistance. They want to marginalize it as such because on top of this war being ILLEGAL, it’s also deeply unpopular.

If I was Kamala, I would get on TV every day and say nothing. Just make this face into the camera for 5 full minutes. Then leave.

Which is exactly why the far right are forcing companies to push us out of media. You can't win hearts and minds when your existence is made invisible with humanizing stories.
