UI Designer hate that trick: #pixelart #indiegames #solodev #indiegamedev #sprytewood

Why do consoles treat their dev kits like top secret intel and cover it with an NDA? What possible negative benefit do they have for this? How have open platforms been hurt by this? It doesn't even need to affect their store fronts.

Early in my indie games design I made a puzzle to show off the multiple solutions you could use for it As part of this I made a video talking about some of the weirder solutions #gamedev #indiegame #indiedev

An automation game, but everything is moved through catapults instead of factory belts...

Thinking about how automated production chains in games is a unique form of game progression. Ex: creating unlimited ammo! It feels rewarding like the player designed the upgrade with their own hands. Also the game could potentially take it away by limited resources or attack the supply chain!

Has any #indiedev included built-in updaters to their clients for early testing builds? Or is this overkill? I'm planning on having a build push to my server repo when I git commit, then have my distributed clients (PC/Android/etc) update from there for easy testing. Hopefully a web build too.

Posting a quick recording of the extremely basic procedural map generation I've been working on. Also some very basic GUI. Haven't uploaded some gameplay in a little bit so getting this out before I rush out to work! #godot #gamedev #indiedev #screenshotsaturday

Been playing #Factorio and recently unlocked robotics. As soon as I began to understand what I now had access to, it feels like an entirely different game with them. That's a really rare feeling I've only experienced a few times in gaming, not sure what to call it.

As I go through this book I’m trying to keep a list of recommendations for cryptographic engineers. It’s short so far, but I expect it’ll get longer as this goes on. Open to suggestions!

Got a coffee at Target while waiting for Bestbuy to open. Took a chance and checked the tech department and they had a #Switch2 for purchase 😊 I wanted to pre-order one this whole time but couldn't find a site that'd sell it to me! At least I got lucky today lol.

I have some ideas with AI I really think are revolutionary, I just need to implement them to see if they were as well as they do in my head. Have an idea combining Task Networks and Behavior Trees for very dynamic behavior. A big issue with HTN/GOAP AI before is that it doesn't recognize other AI.

I finally have silky smooth subpixel-(near)perfect camera movement in #Godot , and even have physics interpolation working at high (>60) framerates! The only issue is there's still barely a TINY amount of camera jitter. I suspect because I'm 5x camera zoom and floating point errors. #gamedev

One thing I don't like about #Pokemon is that you spend the entire time bonding and experiencing all this content with your team. Then when you are post-game or even competitive, you have to breed 1000x copies to get the right IVs/Nature/etc. Should be able to change your existing 'mon's into that.

Big brain #gamedev hack: Release a good enough slop game that game preservationists want to keep a backup of it. Then release tons of small updates and use game preservation as free cloud storage.

A cobbled together thing about some technical differences between how PS1 and N64 draw graphics

Maybe the true Web 3.0 is actually coming from big tech pushing for digital sovereignty to escape country laws. Since the great thing about web 1.0 in the early days was the digital sovereignty of it before we've been funneled into all these services.

Our feature artist/tutorial today is by the talented @tonikopantoja.bsky.social and looks at adding more POP and SNAP to your character animation using OVERSHOOTS! Awesome examples here! #animation #animationdev #gamedev #gameart #manga #characterdesign #drawing #comicart

Just thought of an idea where LLMs could be useful on social media, especially on Bluesky! You could be on a thread and have no idea what caused the discussion and an LLM can come in attempting to give context from recent events.

As I continue to develop and mature my systems/tools for #Godot , my plan is to eventually #open-source them. Even if there's a lot of similar solutions out there, I'd at least feel like I'm contributing to some kind of public good. Would need to figure out how to separate them into add-ons though.

#Gamedev Pro Tip: Bad at math like me? Just create debug tools to visualize everything so you can brute force the solution! #ScreenshotSaturday

Loose Leaf may be shelved, but the beautiful soundtrack made by @leaflet.bsky.social lives on. These beautiful songs embody coziness and whimsy, perfect to pair with your next cup of tea 🍵😌 You can experience the Loose Leaf soundtrack in it's incomplete state on Leaf's Youtube and Bandcamp.
