they don’t have the votes *yet*, at least, call your senators.

Something the Skrmetti decision drives home: "Puberty blockers" should be abandoned as a goal; the goal should be HRT for any minor that wants it; puberty blockers should be a tool for minors who choose themselves they need more time to decide and *nothing else*. Compromising achieved nothing, here

One bright spot for trans people in Montana: Today's SCOTUS decision does not touch Montana. That's because Montana overturned its gender affirming care ban through the state Supreme Court. States are allowed to have protections that go beyond the US constitution, and thus that ruling is unaffected.

The Code of Virginia defines transition-related health care as medically necessary and prevents health insurers from discriminating against transgender people. The SCOTUS ruling today does not change that law we passed with bipartisan support in 2020 (my bill HB 1429). Here’s the actual text:

In light of today's SCOTUS ruling upholding Tennessee's ban on youth gender-affirming care, it would be amazing to see donations flood into OUTMemphis, the mid-south's longest-running LGBTQ+ org. OUTMemphis offers material and social support for trans kids and adults and has since 1989.

Illinois has enshrined protections to meet this very moment. In a time of increasing overreach and hateful rhetoric, it's more important than ever to reaffirm our commitment to the rights and dignity of the LGBTQ+ community. You have a home here always.

“Abundance policies aim to directly lower costs” Then do rent freezes or regulations. Lowing costs of production will not necessarily lower price. Capital will take increased profits as they always do. why would they make housing cheaper? That’s not how capitalism works in reality.

Every day of my life has been lived under the oppression of evangelicals. I'm not sure how to describe it in a way that feels complete. A little voice leaving whispers everywhere, reminding me that they will relish my end.

This.

May Skrmetti be the Bowers of our time.

America's secret police just detained a guy who might be Mayor of New York City and his NYPD escort. We have to abolish ICE. That should be the baseline Democratic Party position.

If New Yorkers are wondering who will fight back against Federal overreach, we have visible evidence today that Zohran Mamdani and Brad Lander are the candidates that you should rank 1 or 2 Lander literally resisted federal overreach and Mamdani showed up immediately to have his back Fuck Cuomo

BREAKING: A federal judge in Massachusetts granted class status to trans people in the passport gender marker change case and extended the prelim. injunction to the class. Trans people will be able to update their gender markers on their passports immediately. ecf.mad.uscourts.gov/doc1/0951130...

MASSIVE good news for trans people in the United States. A federal judge has just granted class action status to transgender people looking to update their passports. This means that very shorty, the window will open to update your passports with the correct gender marker.

just glad my man holden is having a great day

white christian fascism is not “fringe”. it's inspired by huge networks of churches, media and doctrine. it's enabled by the state. it's excused by liberals. Boelter wasn't a confused weirdo. he is the logical conclusion of a now mainstream christofascist formation.

Transphobia is never ok. Even against problematic transgender women. This goes for cis and trans people. I promise that pedaling transphobia will not make things better for the trans people in your life you care about.

I don't say this to downplay the protests. It's great to see people out there. What I am saying is that if people think peaceful protest once a month waiving a few signs will topple or hamstring the regime, they're sorely mistaken. You need something like euromaidan to put a stop to this.

we have an elite impunity problem and a lot of the people and institutions that nominally oppose Trump will burn down their own before admitting that this helped produce him

Fuck, I hope I'm not going back to being a Trotskyist in my old age, but I increasingly think that We Need A Program. Not Trotsky's program from 1938, not just "a vision of a postcapitalist future", but a plan of how to get there and who's going to do it. /1

The Tea Party protests in April 2009 had about a third of a million people involved, and the political media treated it like a game changer for the Obama presidency. The No Kings rallies were AT LEAST ten times bigger than the Tea Party protests. Will the press keep pretending Trump is popular?

can’t believe this still needs to be said, but: stop following altNPS. none of them work for the NPS and they exist to do Qanon numbers station crap and sell merch. it’s annoying for a lot of us that are actually NPS. thanks

This is serious, rigorous analysis and it should change the way the media has been covering these protests. These were, in the aggregate, *massive.*

After everything we've seen in LA, I'm done with this. If you come in to the comments defending the Democratic Party Machine to me-someone who has been voting for every Dem since Bill Fucking Clinton- it's a block. I'm old and mad that I've carried water for the party that hung voters out to dry.

It takes 3.5% leading a mass uprising and shutting down the Capitol for weeks at a time. Waiving a bunch of signs in public parks for a single day isn't going to magically do it.

There a reason the protests are being covered differently from the Tea Party The Tea Party was a front for the wealth class that owns the media and were used to demonize necessary reform These protests were democratic and populist, which the wealth class and its media opposes Hope that helps

People will tell you that they view property destruction as equivalent to violence against a person, but that's not true. They think property destruction is worse

I know a lot of folks like this account. But this is a wild, and unhelpful, exaggeration--it's a resistance version of sean spicer. It veers into #resistanceporn and trades accuracy for clout, like other "blue maga" grifters on here. Pls consider finding other sources of inspiration/news/motivation

I was asked the difference between leftists and liberals—so if you’re wondering, here’s my breakdown.

a whole bunch of coverage of the second Trump administration has had, as a base axiom, the assertion that he’s much more popular and people are less upset about what he’s doing if there’s any intellectually honest coverage left out there, it’s quite obvious that is simply not true
