Someone out there who had their awakening this way, but VERY specifically insists it was the BK version, and that the Tooie one got it all wrong

It's been so long since I've posted art of most of them that people probably don't even know who most of them are, so even just talking about them would feel weird rn

For the record, I've never consciously cared about popularity in general. It's just a subconscious pressure that's easy to unknowingly fall prey to, especially when your social worth online is measured in numbers

As long as I'm not outright ruining my art for people by spamming constant garbage in between, it's really not worth worrying about
Also ngl, I'm pretty emotionally unplugged from "the art community" at this point. So, that's another stressor that isn't really a factor anymore

Y'know, on the tangent of American kids' media, I really do think about that a lot- the fact that nearly every mainstream character is just "pathetic loser", "annoyance to everyone", or "superhero who's inherently, unattainably great"
The lack of INSPIRATIONAL CHARACTERS genuinely kinda sucks

The way you drew her lips is extremely powerful here

I should also add, "and the internet doesn't exist" is a part of it, because it's kind of a cheat code for a lot of hypotheticals like this. But even if it did, "wtf Japan!" rhetoric used to be so strong where I live that I still might not have gotten into it, and the idea of that bugs me really bad

As corny as it sounds, shonen manga protagonists were also better role models than any of the morally pathetic, casual Christofascist adults I was around as a kid
I genuinely don't think I would've learned how good it feels to work towards a far-off goal otherwise, definitely not from superheroes
