While I can understand a military base visit, I don’t understand why Greenland/Denmark simply deny the u.s landing clearance in Nuuk or any other part Greenland. What am I missing?

I actually don’t think Trump cares about tariffs. I think he uses them as a vehicle to manipulate the stock market. You bet the rise or short the stock, and you could make untold riches. And being that the treasury is in his pocket, there NO ONE to stop him. Insider trading on an all new level.
