Ah, you're correct on the first half of the novel.
I was thinking about the series overall but, yeah, Yan Wushi was definitely meaner to Shen Qiao in the beginning.
Gotta say though, I loved the scene in the book when they finally got together in the back alley. 😅🙈😳

That was my disappointment with the donghua. The novel series is fabulous, and the donghua Season 1 isn't remotely as gay. Plus it looks like we won't get S2 any time soon due to Chinese govt crackdown on gay content

Started watching it, thinking I'd drop it after a couple of episodes, and ended up binge-watching every season in 2 days.
Cute, really smart, and laugh out loud funny. Recommend it to every anime fan I meet. Free on Made by Bilibili YouTube channel too 😍

Still one of my faves ever (watched it 3 times!). That and Heaven Officials' Blessing (#TGCF) - both brilliant art style, superb stories (novels are amazing too!), and the Chinese voice actors are excellent.
Watched TGCF English dub as well, (never watch English dubs) and that was brilliant too!
