I highly recommend reading all the L Frank Baum Oz books for children of all ages (from 1 to 101).
They're all public domain and found free many places.

I have no idea which orgs to trust, I feel like they have all bowed to fascist pressure or fallen for propaganda. That said, I have started using Ground News sometimes to search for certain topics or stories. Their bar graph correctly shows where the overton window has shifted right now.

Anecdotal, but I see my doctors in the local county hospital. A place where many folks with COVID go and very few people mask. They give you a surgical style mask at the door. No COVID infections for me so far!

I saw a clip of an incredibly misinformed Trump supporter who thought it was Biden's actions that caused Roe v Wade to be overturned, so they wanted to vote for Trump to get abortion rights back for women.
