I heard the NEA is only considering proposals related to 1776 & the USA’s 250th birthday & I was feeling intensely patriotic, so I’m printing these really big posters inspired *directly* by the Founding Fathers The cut was carved from the masthead of a 19th century newspaper

One of my best friends and coworkers was told he’s most likely going to be laid off tomorrow because he’s a probationary employee He’s only probationary because he’s a veteran hire and they have a 2 yr rather than 1 yr period He’s the highest performing person here This is so fucking stupid

I continue to have a great amount of (possibly stupid) faith in the idea of America and the American people While I waver between depression and optimism about five times a day, the latter is more helpful; the former merely immobilizes

One of my good friends from childhood is teaching high school lit in Texas and looking for donations to help teach the Holocaust and needs money for books - anything you can give would go a long way to help create a better future www.donorschoose.org/project/holo...

Crazy how one guy can pretty much blow an entire nation’s post-WWII national standing and what was left of its good will

"People who like to sound tough back the guys with guns over the guys in jeans with sacks of grain or the guys in suits with papers. But take it from someone who spent nearly 1,500 days downrange over the course of 20 years: USAID is worth every penny."

Damn, “Prayer of the Refugee” by Rise Against hits kinda different these days

"People who like to sound tough reflexively back the guys with guns over the guys in jeans with sacks of grain or the guys in suits with papers. But take it from someone who spent nearly 1,500 days downrange over the course of 20 years: USAID is worth every penny."

BREAKING On Monday, Popular Information broke the news that the NIH had frozen virtually all grant funding in violation of 2 federal court orders On Wednesday, NIH leadership distributed a memo, acknowledging that its funding freeze was illegal and directing staff to resume issuing grants.

“By the Armistice on 11 November…the disdainful Prussian officers had been humbled by the unlikely coalition of immigrant kids from the Bronx and Philadelphia, from farmers around St. Paul and Des Moines, and from Lakota and Navajo from reservations.”

I’m busy in 2032; could we get it over with now?

Women can literally do anything. This is astonishing.

Alternating mainlining PBS documentaries and Ru Paul’s Drag Race is my way of trying to out-persist the persistent horrors

I also don’t hate it, @pptsapper.bsky.social — and I was on the commission. The NDAA legislated an end to naming for Confederates, but SecDef has authority to rename as long as that’s met. But Ft. Liberty was the Gold Star families’ request, which was why we deferred (Commission favored Benavidez)
