Excellent article.

And so it begins...

Lovely parting gift from my students! Pleased to receive the Graduate Excellence in Teaching Award for, 'Examining Culture and Difference', the last course I taught at Western.

Courage to all who keep getting up everyday and try to make some part of what we're living a little better. Whether it's teaching, talking, writing, upholding ethics in our daily work - thank you. There's a reason that education, research, and academia are targeted in such times. A luta continua.

Forward-thinking governments invest in higher education and research. This has not been the case in much of Canada, and certainly not in Ontario and in Quebec. The two account for the highest number of universities and university students in Canada.

Not the way one wants to see academic brain gain but wow.

Fascinating paper.

Development in Practice deserves a medal for making it easy for authors to submit papers. No formatting, referencing, layout, spelling restrictions. Write your paper and submit! The time we spend on this is ridiculous. All journals should follow suit. www.tandfonline.com/action/autho...

Is the World Bank Research Observer considered refereed publication? It's 'not traditionally peer-reviewed' but it does send papers out for review to economists (from what I understand). What would researchers put on CVs? @daveevansphd.bsky.social @hpatrinos.bsky.social

There are no words to describe what this is.

Five years to the day COVID was declared a pandemic this is where we're at: the world's richest country has signed an order to pull out of WHO, dismantled USAID and millions for vaccines, life-saving treatments for HIV/AIDS, TB, and infectious disease, overturned women's rights to safe procedures.

Not surprising when the government has cut funding to universities for the last 15 years (at least), oh and Brexit which has meant no access to EU funds, grants, mobility, and people. It's really not rocket science.
