In my own view, the perception here is triumphing over the reality of much higher average tariffs, but time will tell.

Clearly, the tariff "pause" has had a stabilizing effect on what had been plunging US consumer sentiment, especially in the absence of any serious shortages or inflation due to reported trade disruptions, at least on the retail level.

I can understand a mass mobilization WWII-type situation where they're basically grabbing anyone who can be helpful. But just minting corporate execs as senior officers, under peacetime situation, seems to me like debasing the currency.
