this court says that allowing EPA to regulate carbon emissions is a "major question" that demands congressional debate. but allowing the president to, with a flick of the wrist, end a straightforward constitutional right is something that must be allowed to stand?

It’s every parent’s nightmare, isn’t it? you check your child’s bulletproof backpack and find a picture book about gay penguins

With regard to these terrible Court decisions: It is *CRITICAL* to resist the urge to give in to doomerism and declare that things not directly accomplished by the decision - removal of books from classrooms, age verification expanding to medical websites, and so on - are now the law.

Monstrous: "They were crying in fear. One of the agents at one point lifted up his shirt, which displayed the gun that he was carrying....The 6-year-old boy was terrified to see the gun. He urinated on himself and wet all his clothing. No one offered him a change of clothing for many hours."

gotta bring back 1850s abolitionist slurs for ICE, call them manstealers and flesh merchants

TikTok reduces everything to personalised slop, major events reduced to selfish fantasies.

If you are not alarmed at the type of thing these people now feel 100% comfortable saying out loud that they would have been scared to type into a group chat 10 years ago for fear that anyone might ever see it, I don't know what to tell you.

Thread on highly inadequate and flawed "rural health transformation" fund intended to prevent rural hospitals from closing or cutting services/staff in face of draconian #Medicaid cuts in Senate reconciliation bill. Details from @punchbowlnews.bsky.social here (1/x): punchbowl.news/rural-health...

This is absolutely enraging. A presentation slated to be shared at this week’s meeting of vaccine advisers to the CDC claimed that a study in animals suggested that use of the vaccine preservative thimerosal can have “long-term consequences in the brain.” But the study doesn’t appear to exist.”

rfk jr.’s appointees do not understand the basics of the studies they are talking about. they didn’t even bother to study up before this meeting. and now these lazy conspiracists and grifters get to dictate you and your child’s medical care

Providing childcare so people can work instead through the magic of economies of scale is actually pretty capitalist unless you define capitalism as 1950s gender roles.

people find it hard to realize that you can run a very good campaign and still lose on the fundamentals

I think this is a strange thing for a President to post.

A U.S. citizen on their way to work abducted by ICE then locked in a basement, with federal government employees refusing to consider indisputable proof of citizenship. Congress endorses it. SCOTUS keeps thwarting judges from even slowing it. What more is there to say? We live under fascism now.

Indeed. It's important to understand that the rule of law isn't just "threatened" by what SCOTUS has been doing. For a variety of actions by the federal government, the rule of law no longer exists, because the feds have been willfully defying court orders and there will be no consequences for it.

Justice Sotomayor called out the SCOTUS majority today for "reward[ing]" the Trump's administration's "noncompliance" with court orders today — and tied SCOTUS to the Trump administration for how their actions threaten the rule of law. From my report at Law Dork: www.lawdork.com/p/breaking-s...

according to conservatives on the court, the constitution does not protect your right to your own body but does enable the government to ship you off to a foreign gulag without any hope of return

SCOTUS majority not deigning to give *any* reasons for staying the injunction of the district court - in the highest-possible stakes context & where the executive branch has acted appallingly - evincing real contempt for both district courts & the rule of law

They *REALLY* have to stop saying “what should be his best issue.* There are several gruesome lies around the deportation program, and people saw what they wanted to see during the campaign, but this concept has been evil and stupid from the get-go. It shouldn’t be popular because it sucks.

Seems like a problem with sending anonymous agents all across the country to sweep people off the street without wearing uniforms or any identifying information, doesn't it?

Reporting relevant information that puts news in context would be Biased. To be Fair and Objective, media can’t call an illegal Trump policy illegal. That would give readers the factually accurate impression that today’s Republicans favor lawbreaking more than Democrats, which is Bad Journalism.

“In effect, these voters responded to the most comprehensive attempt to provide concrete benefits to them since the New Deal by loading an economic shotgun and pointing it directly at themselves.” prospect.org/politics/202...

The global aid sector is quite literally on the brink of death right now and the human fallout globally is already obscene and will keep getting much, much worse. People in the U.S. need to be far more aware of this - and angry - than they currently are.

Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on. slate.com/technology/2...

if you are transgender: do not give up. no matter what. growing up in the 90s and 00s was so fucking lonely. there were no queer people around, only mocked on TV. i've seen what having peers and elders can do for your health and your happiness. survive for yourself. survive for your community. live.

My Statement on the Supreme Court's Ruling in United States v. Skrmetti to Restrict Gender-Affirming Care for Trans Youth.

between this and the SCOTUS ruling, it's fairly obvious that movement conservatism hates LGBT people, and anyone who is on the LGB side of things (e.g. Tammy Bruce at State) is painfully naive about where things will end up

My heart breaks for trans kids, who do not deserve this obsessive animus that adults are directing at them.

they want everyone who doesn’t conform to their beliefs about how someone should live their life to die it’s not subtle

Speaking as the father of a 3 year old and 1 year old, it must have been unspeakably horrific to live in a world of such high infant mortality, and it makes me burn with rage to see so many people lobby for a return to it

We won’t amplify it, but the president posting that Dems are “sick of mind” and “hate our country” immediately after 2 Dem lawmakers and their spouses were shot in their homes is the opposite of leadership. Gas on the fire.

If you think this account is real I fear you are not built for an era where the breakdown of consensus reality has been weaponized

Since becoming President, Trump has imposed the largest tariff hike in modern American history and is continually threatening further escalations That trade war is costing the US billions—and breaking the country's trade flows in important ways🧵 www.apricitas.io/p/how-tariff...

The Minnesota assassin appears to be a hate-filled right winger. So can we stop walking on eggshells about MAGA's legitimization of political violence? Yes, Republicans have also been the target of inexcusable violence, but this isn't a "both sides" issue. 1/ A🧵on the danger.

Genie: ok what do you want for your birthday Trump: a military parade, oh, and also millions of people on the street chanting my name Genie: okie dokie

The Minnesota assassinations, the attempted arson at Governor Shapiro's home, and the violent arrest of Senator Padilla are all straight out of the Jim Crow terrorism playbook. Same goes with cops aiming for journalists covering the ICE protests. None of these are new tactics, just a new iteration.
