As it stands, based on current polling, the Liberal party is going to get decimated, projections suggest it could be the biggest defeat in history.
Part of the frustrations has been that it took so long for Trudeau to step aside, but it’s too little, too late.

What this also means is there’ll be a new prime minister after Trudeau but that person will be slaughtered in the next election all things being realistic. So Pierre won’t be the next PM but he’ll be in charge by the end of the year.

Been a long time coming but Justin is stepping down as party leader and ultimately prime minister. The Liberal party will elect a new leader who will become prime minister into the next election, happening October at the latest.
