It used to be a bank holiday in the UK too & it is not just in catholic Europe.

It’s beginning to happen. I’ve been asked if a US refugee can contact me when they move across the pond by a colleague in Germany. Brexit has meant we have a number of new staff leaving Blighty & I expect we’ll start getting more from the US applying for jobs.

It’s a loophole that needs closing. It’s just too easy to do.

Even as a buyer who has backed an Unbounded Kickstarter project I feel fortunate that I’m not waiting for a book. What I find despicable is the way they’ve just wound up one company so they don’t have to pay creditors & just start the same business model again but without the debts.

How many joints does that index finger have? And why aren’t they an international concert pianist?

In 17th & 18th century Britain there were massive duties (tariffs) on luxury imports like tea and brandy. Whole costal communities took to smuggling, rich & poor alike. If trump imposes punitive tariffs then it won’t just be Leicas being smuggled. If a profit can be turned or a saving made.

It’s a very long time since I’ve seen any soup jousting. I thought it had become extinct. I’m looking forward to seeing some soup jousting on BearwoodTV.

Those steps are still a b*gger even if you are fit, if you have a cargo bike, a cargo trike, or any other trike. It is fascinating how UK councils do active travel infrastructure half-heartedly & then probably congratulate themselves that they are really changing lives for the better.

Probably, like the ferries to the UK (apart from the Dover crossings), it is cheaper to fly.

The price for a week’s camping on the Isle of Wight has gone up a bit since Covid.

You may still have an accent from back home but if you spoke like that back in the old country no one would understand you 😆

I bet they’ll claim the Pride celebration in Brum as part of the strike 🤣😂🤣

I tried googling jus-mus - it didn’t work. I’m guessing it’s scrambled eggs with tomatoes but what else is in there? Harissa?

Fantastic shot. I love the use of infrared on a stormy day.

I didn’t get to Damascens when I was in Brum earlier this month. Is it worth a try next time I’m in Brum?

Apparently the entire amount of energy created by new renewables such as wind is equivalent to that being used by cryptocurrencies. If we just switch off the blockchain servers life won’t get any worse for humans but will get a whole lot better for the rest of the planet.

I have that mantra etched on the inside of my glasses. It’s no good on a t-shirt unless it’s upside down and back to front.

And if it was implemented fully then those who arrived looking for work would only be allowed to stay a maximum of 3 months but the UK never implemented that rule.

It was a two way street. Young single Brits went to work in Europe. Maybe as an intern at a multinational company, or a season in a ski chalet followed by a season at a beach resort.

It’ll just be full of elderly German men just like nudist beaches near where I live. Although it’s great to see Birmingham provide facilities for a select group of migrants.

Reforming the tax system could be a great project that Labour could really get their teeth into, but no they prefer to browbeat hardworking migrants.

No large language model built on statistical methods could be said to be sentient but then neither can a MAGA supporter be considered sentient.

The island of strangers in my mind refers to the natives. I speak to more of my neighbours & made good friends with some since I’ve left the UK than I ever did there. Maybe I’m lucky but it has happened more than once.

It’s probably been parked up in a dodgy secondhand dealership in the desert getting sandblasted whilst the tyres perish and the lubricants clog up. .
