lol I know. The sarcasm is raw this year.

Yes! No problem! I didn’t know they were doing that! Also what are they going to block me for? Sharing reliable sources? Commentary? lol

Always something lol

I am certainly not. I knew before that the reports of plagiarism were not a good excuse, they did not hold water. There are degrees of plagiarism. I agree that there is more at play- and that it is unfortunate that Bill Ackman was instrumental in getting her fired.
comment in response to post
Yup. I am aware.
comment in response to post
Yes I did hear that. However, I did read that the reason for Claudine Gay's firing was because of multiple cases of plagiarism ranging from her PhD dissertation to published works. What actually was plagiarized appears to be overblown.

🧪So this is the third lawsuit against the administration. There are reports of two similar lawsuits by Columbia, the American Public Health Association, the Ibis Reproductive Health. More to come. www.nature.com/articles/d41... www.reuters.com/business/hea...

Exactly.

Agreed. Fascism is here.

Yes! I am reminded that we as organisms exist as a bunch of ā€œomesā€ mashed together. Genomes. Proteomes. Microbiomes. Matrisomes.

Eewww but fascinating at the same time lol

Just today my mom just sent me a ā€œholisticā€ video by a random Indian yoga guru on how to cure breast cancer, thinking I might have missed something in my career as a scientist. She forgets that I’ve published articles on the subject. Gotta love ethnic moms šŸ˜†

The sarcasm is on point. I needed a chuckle. 🤣

None of those 200+ research articles can negate the horrific experience of real struggling people, especially when it runs in the family.

A delicious case of FAFO. Also, sharing that I found out that an ex bf from yrs ago committed suicide on the eve of Passover in 2023. He slashed his neck. Found by his widowed father on the floor of his old room bleeding. Next to an old photo of us. I found his obituary online. It is real.

It rears its ugly head every day.

🧪I have a strong feeling that future epidemiology grants are going to be affected by this. Some institutions are going to be hit harder than others.
comment in response to post
🧪Future grant recipients would have to "certify" that they do not have any diversity, equity or inclusion" related programs and they do not participate in boycotts of Israeli companies or firms doing business with Israel. If the grantee is found to violate these terms, the award will be terminated.

I think that if people are going to be offensive/rude on a *public* forum like BlueSky they should understand that they won’t get away with it. Politely disagreeing is one thing. But this type of behavior is unacceptable. That comment was pointless. No one gets a free pass, advanced degree or not.

He’s so ā€œanti-wokeā€ that he can’t even spell check his already dumb comment. šŸ™„

Yes. I read that. That is a fascinating detail. An oversight by a journalist engendered the creation of the world’s highest award. But it is hard to fit all that in 300 characters on this platform šŸ™‚

ā€œartificialā€ looking? What does that mean?

The false equivalence is annoying. The way they frame this is annoying.

@gieck.bsky.social what is your opinion on this?
comment in response to post
This is really informative. So these virologists suggest that the SARS-CoV-2 may have had origins in late 2019, and the wet market happened to be one of first outbreaks of Covid, (that was publicized in January) not long after the initial infection(s). Thanks for sharing!

I did not know this. Very good point!

🧪Yes! People can get lost in the weeds and argue all they want, especially about Fauci’s alleged actions. The WH made him the scapegoat and their reason to attack science as a whole. It has turned into an anti-science propaganda machine, listing events /details w/o or out of context. Open your eyes!

Truth. Unfortunately it is more about power and control. The current administration does not have the country’s best interests at heart.

That’s a question on so many people’s minds

🧪Adam Kucharski has done a great job at fact checking/breaking down the propaganda stated in Covid.gov. This thread is a must read. bsky.app/profile/adam...

"Debunked" is inaccurate. The article, 2 yrs old, is full of details/opinions that detract from the real concern. If there are significant inaccuracies in the Proximal Origins paper, then there needs to be solid proof presented by appropriate people in the field. Retractions are serious business.
