Get some flowers for Algernon, and then we’ll discuss that some more.

I mean okay to be fair I happened to come across why a mechanism that may lead to autism also could be connected to certain cancers like brain tumors, and also strokes in the brain. And like that is not ideal. Would prefer to avoid those fates personally. Would I trade how I think for that?

Most importantly let me choose and have autonomy around how I work with my brain. I have and will continue to tune up how it works, as I have my whole life. And I get to decide that, not some researcher or bureaucrat who decides my brain is a disease is in need of a cure.

Do not try to cure my brain. It is not broken, regardless of how I think and interact with the world, and whether that may differ from how others do. Change my brain, and I am no longer me in the same way I was. And true we are always becoming new versions of ourselves. This… matters to me.

It behooves the world to have variety, rather than only bland gruel to slurp until the end of our days. Mind you, I heartily approve of safe foods and enjoy a good oatmeal. THAT SAID, we can and should have room in the world for more than one type of anything, rather than standardizing humanity.

This is not about my brain being better than others, either. It’s simply my brain, it’s autistic, it has ADHD, entirely likely the reason for that is linked together. This is genetic and has persisted for millennia, and you cannot tell me a trait, which is fairly common, serves no purpose.

I very much like my brain, and how I think. Does the world always like how my brain thinks? Well, whyever would I let the world decide that? Look around at all the very foolish choices people in the world make to declare they are better, others are worse. Plenty of logic and reasoning created.

Well like I said, no nightcaps for me regardless because of meds I take.
comment in response to post
NOOOOOOOO do not have a nightcap with that one!

I did just get some cute Amanita earrings.
comment in response to post
Well I don’t drink alcohol (due to meds), so Inky Cap is safe I guess?
comment in response to post
You the Amanita or Inky Cap?

Please rest. Please find time to relax. I am telling myself this as much as anyone else.

But we are not meant to know everything about the apocalypse. Be mindful of your capacity. We do need to live. You cannot change the world if you collapse with a burned out nervous system. The answer to urgency is community and shared support. Passing the torch. You cannot take watch all night.

Learning to accept the discomfort that people will judge others for their own reasons, and there is no way to find the perfect equation of actions to avoid all judgment about everything, everywhere, all at once? That is the path to freedom. Have I found my way to the end of this path? No.
comment in response to post
I am not saying to avoid information. Or to ignore the world. However it is a trap to think you are required to stay up to date on literally everything. Or that you must share your personal opinion on every issue. There WILL be people who will judge those who do not speak on this issue or that.

Very much looking forward to making new memories. And I do believe we will be able to return to Florida some day. There are so many good people there and honestly everywhere. Have really loved the show We’re Here and PBS special on queer folk in the south. No one left behind. Support all.

Don’t mean to be a bummer. Ex got engaged three days after divorce finalized, remarried a few months later, and he’s a good guy, she’s known him a long time. They went on the Disney Wish (I think) over spring break. Anyhow. I’m really happy to see Disney photos, looks like you’re having a blast!

Would not go to Florida at this point, glad to go to Disneyland. Would love to take kiddo (almost 13) out there again. Last trip we went to four science museums while out there, kiddo was a lot younger then. In a tricky spot financially right now, working on figuring it out.

I ended up realizing at the end there were unhealthy dynamics, so I do not regret the divorce at this point. Would have been 20 years this fall. We went to Disney a lot, probably 14 times to Disney World, a few times to Disneyland. Made it to Disney in Paris. A few Disney Cruises in Alaska.
