Born to a mother in Canada’s first all-women's prison. For many adoptees, especially those with mothers labeled "Juvenile Delinquents," disclosure is denied under the YCJA. #HiddenHistories #PrisonBorn #PrisonAdoptees #PunishedInUtero

The thing about bravery is that it doesn't feel that way when you are in the middle of it. Courage feels terrifying. And yet, we carry forward. Sending ❤️ to all of the brave #adoptees who have come forward in this historic case. 🥚 www.abc.net.au/news/2025-03...

Doctors call it the Physiology of Poverty: The stress of trying to survive every day breaks the mind and the body. That's why working class people in America live SEVEN years shorter than the very wealthy.

Andrew Mercer Reformatory for Females generated revenue through prison labor to cover costs like staff wages & maintenance, benefiting the government or private enterprises. Child savers then secured prisoners' children for farm & domestic labor or to increase the supply of infants for #adoption. 🥚

🥚 Adoption is systemic fraud. Endless respect and admiration for the Korean American adoptee community for exposing it all and standing up for human rights. This is such hard and emotionally exhausting work. Gift link: www.nytimes.com/2025/03/26/w...

“Adoption may be responsible for breeding psychiatric problems for the children concerned. A preliminary survey by a child psychiatry team at UCLA. Neuropsychiatric Institute has suggested that such may be the case." And on goes the article....partial snippet below 👇🥚

🥚Adoption was never focused on the child's best interests; it was driven by the demand for cheap farm labor. J.J. Kelso often said he never had an issue with the British Home Children migration scheme, as the demand far exceeded his supply of children.

Pregnant mother sentenced to hang for killing her extremely abusive husband. Learn more about Angelina Napolitano here: www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/a... Angelina was saved, though her children were used as supply to meet the demand for foster children to work farms or as domestics🥚

🥚"The Society is the local baby marketing board, so to speak, and Mr. Beaumont and his staff make it their business to see that the quality of its output is of an unusual order. Babies must be tired and tested as “adoptable” before they are released for adoption.” www.newspapers.com/image/100628...

🥚A topic not often discussed is the Magdalen laundries in Canada and forced adoptions, including babies born to mothers who were wards of the Children's Aid Society, Industrial/Training Schools, or confined in Refuges and asylums.

🥚Recent article from Northern Ireland states, 'Private nursing homes used to secretly house women and babies.' It seems Ontario also hid mothers. 👇 If true, were they the pregnant wards of Children’s Aid Societies, Ontario Training Schools, or prison paroles used for cheap labor in nursing homes?

A tragic 1909 case of a young adoptee shooting his adopted mother and dying by suicide. This #adoptee was adopted by Hugh Macmath, superintendent of the Sunday School at the Andrew Mercer Reformatory. Over 100 years ago, officials were aware that adopted people suffer. #adoptee #suicide

🥚 Here in Ontario prison officials transferred their pregnant prisoners to the General Hospital to avoid listing the Mercer Reformatory as the physical address on the birth registrations. Hidden Histories here: andrewmercerreformatory.org/history/

Children of incarcerated mothers were often made wards of the Children’s Aid Society (CAS). In 1928, CAS inspector H.W. Elliot was acquitted of gross indecency involving 13 wards. Imagine the public outcry if an official today said children 'are prone to manufacture such stories.'

Criminalization and incarceration of women and girls, the untold stories of human suffering—the Mary Anns killed in Canada—must have this shame redirected. Mary Ann Mannah was the second, not third, prisoner at Mercer in 1880.

"WICKEDEST TOWN IN CANADA" On Aug 28, 1880, 19-year-old Margaret, charged with a sex-offence "prostitution", became the first prisoner at the Andrew Mercer Reformatory. She was released on Feb 3, 1881, and her fate remains unknown. This is the only newspaper article found so far.

If the United Nations is describing the gross human rights violations that exist TODAY, imagine what it was like when women and girls were criminalized and incarcerated at Mercer (1880-1969). More here: www.ohchr.org/en/health/me...

@notalegalrecord.net Is it just me or has everyone lost access to Adoptees of Bluesky?

Disclosure of youth criminal records is prohibited globally. In Ontario, many pregnant 'juvenile delinquents' were incarcerated in #MaternityHomes. Records obtained by adoptees would not disclose offenses, suggesting that their mothers were there due to stigma and shame for being pregnant and unwed.

Google 'prison adoption'; does the marketing shock you? When domestic infant adoptions declined, international ones increased. Yet, a neglected group— #PrisonBorn —exists, especially adoptees born to 'juvenile delinquents,' as disclosure is prohibited. #SecretPrisonBabies

How to manufacture a supply of unwanted babies: Ban abortion; send unwed pregnant women to institutions where they provide labor, can’t leave, and are required to surrender their infants as a precondition for food, shelter, and medical care; seal records and birth certificates to prevent reunions.🥚

The machinery of transferring babies/children to strangers for #adoption is older than most realize. In Ontario, adoptions were originally processed under the Guardianship Act. By 1921, the Adoption Act was created, relieving the Children's Aid Society (CAS) of certain responsibilities. 1/2

An episode on #adoption, highlighting the mother's suffering when her son was lost to adoption, and the son's struggle with his trauma and loyalty to his adoptive parents. I couldn’t finish listening. www.restoretheglorypodcast.com/episodes/90?...

Many of these 'delinquent' girls were pregnant when criminalized and incarcerated. The solution was to have their babies #adopted, so the inheritable criminality, due to the mother's feeble-mindedness, would be transformed by an upstanding two-parent family, preferably in the countryside. #adoption

At this stressful time of year I remember that #Adoptees have a much higher rate of suicide than nonadopted people We need a designated hotline staffed by counselors who are specifically trained in #AdopteeSuicidePrevention It’s long overdue
