Ps was that photo taken at his much discussed birthday party?

We will miss you, but it gives me a chance to catch up with my correspondence. Hope you’re feeling better ❤️

That’s a belter of a show. I remember - not long after it came out - being in HMV (or similar) and they had it playing on a massive vid screen. I thought, if I’d never heard or seen maiden before I would instantly buy this dvd … I had chills even though I’d already watched it multiple times!

Assuming trains don’t thwart me ( they tried fucking hard yesterday, let me tell you!) London stadium.

I think that’s a decent point …

Pretty sure it’s 48 … a mere novice compared to some!

I’ve only seen them in bercy - agreed it’s great!

Same. It’s really hard!

Nice - I’ve seen them in Paris a few times and the crowd are always great! You’ll have an awesome time.

Where are you going?
comment in response to post
I thought the same. Maidens live sound in recent years is mush, so goodness knows what he’s hearing in his in ears!

I was talking about Bruce missing cues. Sorry my replies were a bit scattergun!

Yeah, I’m not even convinced it’s about geling musically, I think he just wants someone he gets on with and won’t ruin the tour bus dynamic. It is what is is, but it makes you appreciate Nicko had a certain swing to his playing. Dawson feels a bit more ‘straight rock’
comment in response to post
Yeah, they’ve gone video screen crazy so it completely changes throughout the show.

I thought he took a backseat to Murray/smith because of the setlist and did it like a pro. Respect.

I’ll add that I thought it was a nice touch that H dusted off his 80s guitars for the occasion. I don’t thing he’s used the Lado and Ibinez destroyer since 1985. I loved that he used them! I also loved that janick didn’t get involved in the smith/Murray solos other than harmony to Dave.
comment in response to post
He also just outright missed his cues a couple of times. I won’t mention the songs, but he did!
comment in response to post
Murray was on fire!! You really realise how much work he does on those early songs. Fucking hell!
comment in response to post
I spend the first half of the set thinking he was pretty bad, but I warmed to him. He did a brilliant job of a certain song from everyone’s favourite album. Drum sound was awful where I was so I’ll see hold judgement and see if I can hear him better tonight.

I’ll be honest, I really missed the old school vibe, especially inflatable Eddie. I sort of don’t want Eddie bought to life as a hyper real animation, it doesn’t fit the aesthetic of the classic artwork IMO.

I was there too (but not at the front)!

If you zoom in you can see the price tag says £3.99, because that’s what a record cost in 1977!

This is in fact the exact copy I found, which I stole off my dad and still have 48 years (approx) after I found it. Set me on a musical path that changed my life.

Interesting, they have the reverse effect on me: the more I think about logarithms the less I feel I know.
comment in response to post
Out of interest, what are the other 2?
comment in response to post
Great album …

I love all quo, although late 80s/early 90s I have to in the right mood. The run of albums from 1977 to 1982 is *staggeringly good* though … it’s banger after banger on those 6 albums.

What about the FiiO JM21? Under £200 and FiiO usually get good reviews.

Well … check these out: www.astellnkern.com

The Astell and kern is great though!
comment in response to post
I have an Astell and kern, but honestly, these days I use my iPhone and Qobuz (hi res streaming service) 90% of the time because it’s more convenient.

Whatever way you look at it, ac/dc disprove your thesis😉
comment in response to post
Of course, also by ac/dc there’s rock n roll damnation and it’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock n roll, both crackers but inferior to noise pollution IMI
comment in response to post
And my trump card, @darrenhayman.bsky.social, is rock n roll ain’t noise pollution. youtu.be/X_IWlPHMziU?...

It also has a lot of psychological baggage in that it's the one I had reached during the 2017-2022 re-write of the book, so it feels like 'the chapter that caused me to fail to finish the book'. I think I'm also just seriously burnt out from the past 5 years.
comment in response to post
Repeated measures. I have the examples because it's 'just' converting the SPSS chapter to R .... except, for RM there's lots of ways to approach it in R (multilevel, afex etc etc) and every decision has knock on effects for how the chapter plays out, and I'm just going around in circles with it.

be my guest .... shouldn't take you long.

We use discord on all our stats/methods modules, works really well because lots of students are on there anyway. We also have a server for the methods team, which gets used daily for therapy and general sociability!
