Mark Zuckerberg brings #Severance to severance.

Finally read Neal Stephenson's 1992 sci-fi novel "Snow Crash." (I put the "pro" in procrastination.) Vivacious writing; colorful characters; mess of a storyline. Fun to see how tech predictions fare after 33 years, particularly Stephenson's Metaverse (his concept & term). #BookSky #Books

“Independent film is passionate people working together to build something better. And who better to help rebuild the city of Los Angeles than our community?” — Aidy Bryant, Film Independent Spirit Awards www.latimes.com/entertainmen...

Odd how the turns have tabled… Trump reversed course and admitted that Russia did, in fact, invade Ukraine. International news sources and independent media have stepped up to keep Americans informed.

We need more galvanizing articles, ideas, and recommendations like this from Virginia Heffernan. Bluesky has become grayskieswithachanceofapocalypse. Enough doomscrolling — we need actions. I'm donating to the @aclu.org, whom we'll all likely need in the days to come.

Another great article by L.A.'s poet at heart, Chris Erskine (former @latimes.com columnist): chriserskinela.com/2025/02/22/b... #writing #losangeles

@drmaraeinstein.bsky.social Saw this and thought, is Dr. Mara in L.A.? P.S. I didn't scan the QR code — I don't trust unknown ones — so I can only guess this is a band. Or a cult. Or both.

For #Caturday, how about a cookie from Kanazawa, Japan? (I particularly like the illustration of the cat reading books.)

My take: You’d think phone calls in #business would be relegated to the communications media attic, dusted off only for special occasions, yet they persist. And ironically, they’re pushed hardest by those selling digital services. atomictango.com/marketing/sa... #sales #marketing #marketingsky

Even if you don't like #advertising, this one is ideal for #Severance night... youtu.be/55PSvidfDo8

To save time, I try to downscale most #business interactions: turning in-person meetings into Zooms, Zooms into phone calls, calls into text exchanges, and text exchanges into emails. Haven't tried turning emails into snail mail yet, but the other attempts often work.

Amen. These past 5 years have tried to sink me, but my students have kept me afloat. On a related note, in biz school, I had professors who hated teaching, so I learned to teach by observing their methods, then doing the opposite. www.chronicle.com/article/what... #academicsky #academicchatter

Ah, yes, galore and more galore. #Amazon #JamesBond

So you want to be a YouTube star? The stats don't look much better than the ones for a typical Bluesky post… Of course, there are ways to remedy this, but most people don't bother. Via @taylorlorenz.bsky.social's newsletter quoting this article: www.bbc.co.uk/future/artic... #marketingsky #commsky

This is the ad Jeff Bezos’ Washington Post refused to run. Definitely their right as a business but also my right to point out their real business depends on free speech and a free press…not corporate cowardice.

Ah, the classic paralysis by analysis. Years ago I wrote about several experiences I had with this not so phenomenal phenomenon: atomictango.com/marketing/re... #marketingsky #research #marketing #businesssky

The most cogent analysis of the election I've read (and I've read many) by an award-winning journalist and former CIA analyst.

Love the enthusiasm for women's basketball (go Trojans!), but someone please check on the ESPN caption writer ("drops," "electric," "skies," "explodes," "sinks"), who seems to be having a conniption. #writing

More and more news headlines are "click bait": teasers that incite curiosity and intrigue readers into finding out what the story is all about. I categorize this L.A. Times headline as pure "click repellant." #journalism #digitalmedia
