I'm definitely aligning with the trend discussed in this Morning Advertiser article- I much prefer a pub visit in the afternoon/ early evening - not sure if that's just a reflection of my age though! #pub www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/Article/2025...

It may be spring now but a pint by the fire in The Grapes, Slingsby was very welcome this afternoon! 🔥 🍺 #pub

The @camraofficial.bsky.social digital newsletter has decided what my May reading is going to be! A book on Beer Festivals by @morrighani.bsky.social! 🍻#beerfestivals

Love this from @bathedailey.bsky.social and @pelliclemag.com - my favourite is def the dog one! And I prefer real rather than paintings of dogs in pubs! #pub www.pelliclemag.com/home/2025/2/...

Sadly I could not follow this sign at Manchester Victoria as I had a train to catch! #pub #trainstationpub

Cause we liked it so much - last drinks at the City Arms in Manchester- love this fireplace! #pub #fireplace

Third stop - Moon Under Water (Wetherspoons) - I never normally go to Wetherspoons as they don’t allow dogs! Service was terrible, other customers didn’t seem to understand bar queuing and half the beers were not available (but no indication on the bar)! Not sure I’ll be back!

Second stop is the @cityarmsmcr - really enjoyed this pub- two great rooms with different atmospheres (back room perhaps a little bright for me personally but always have the option) - friendly, great beers - will certainly return! #pub

I have been very slack on pub visits the last month - so trying to make up for it today with (hopefully) a few visits! First stop the lovely Britons Protection - got to love a ladies toilet swing door! #pub

I always love a pub book so was happy to come back to this little pub book after work yesterday- part of the Bloomsbury Object Lessons series! #pub #pubbook

theconversation.com/kim-jong-un-... When North Korean officials go on a drinking spree and get called a “rotten group” (ssŏgŏppajin muri) and an “arrogant rabble” (pangjahan ohapchijol)! Interesting article on North Korean drinking! #drinking

Looks like another new drinking spot coming to York 🥳 #drinkingplace

Father in Law left this for me from Tuesday’s @Telegraph - best pub in the UK declared as The Standing Order, Edinburgh - based on @Google reviews - Article suggests that even those drinking there don’t think it’s even the best pub/spoons in Edinburgh! #pub

Looking forward to trying out the reopened Old Grey Mare in York next time I visit! Now part of the Brew York empire! #pub

Thoroughly enjoyed part 6 (Bitter, not boring) of Keep Cask Alive from @craftbeerchannel.bsky.social - really feel like a beer now! m.youtube.com/watch?v=D8Li...

Catching up on the Lidl pub news! I can’t say it bothers me as much as it does William Sitwell - I can’t see these ever being proper pubs, just uninspired bars for partners/friends who don’t want to shop - they’re not going to be go to choices on a Friday evening! #notapub

Brin is waiting patiently for the The Grapes, Slingsby to reopen after its winter break tomorrow! #pub

Happy Support an Independent Pub Day! It’s soggy and damp here so the perfect place to be is in a great pub in front of a roaring fire with pint of beer! #pubs

Can pubs take advantage of the drop in use of dating apps for meeting partners? www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/Article/2025...

We are looking forward to Support an Independent Pub Day this Saturday! 🍻 Get out and visit an independent #pub on Saturday! 🍺🍷🍽️ While you’re there, drink independent beer or other drinks! 🍻🍸 #SupportanIndependentPubDay #SupportOurPubs #SupportPubs #pubs #BackOurBrewers

Exciting to see the trailer for the Keep Cask Alive 2 series from the Craft Beer Channel- trailer features @jedmeers.bsky.social in the Swan in York looking excited about cask! #keepcaskalive2 www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BNK...

Just because a pub is busy doesn't mean it isn't struggling to stay open #saveourpubs www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Today in The Morning Advertiser re the Mirror 'Save the Pub' campaign- "If Keir Starmer really wants to save the sector, it's well within his gift to resolve a number of issues we face...put your money where your mouth is and follow through." www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/Article/2025...

Went to the library to pick up one book but after browsing the brewing and beer section I ended up with three! Also one with a dedication to the ‘beer-drinking Briton’! #beer #books

The new book by @samcullen.bsky.social was waiting for me when I arrived back from my holiday! Just need to get a bit further through my e-mail backlog and I can dive in! #lostpubs

Poor haul (if two can be a haul) of beer mats from our week in Val d’Isere. Very poor show for a tegestologist! #tegestology #beermats

Quick pit stop pint before the Eurostar at the Hideout Pub, Paris! #pint

A nip of sloe gin to help the final run of our ski holiday go smoothly! #skiing #sloegin

Lunchtime beer stop on our final day of skiing at Les Fils a Maman, Val d’Isere - beer, good food, retro music, an excellent tape wall and interesting toilet walls!

This evening visits in Val d’Isere to Chez Jules (got in before the apres ski crowd so could appreciate) and Just Before wine and beer bar (relaxed vibe)! #beers

Visits to Le Hibou (friendly, wings Wednesday) and Le Pub (retro games and a friendly boxer dog) last night in Val d’Isere! #pubs #drinks

This evening was a visit to the lively and loud Le Petit Danois, Val D’Isere! Free shot (of what don’t know) with every drink, lively loud music band and double happy hours - 4-5 and 9-10! #apresski

Piste pint - Tignes 1550! #pistepint

Pool playing at Alex Bar in Val d’Isere - great range of beers, multiple pool tables, darts and dog friendly! #beer #pub

Beers and food at Le Garage, Val d’Isere - speedy food service, great music and lots of beer! #beer

Another day watching rugby in a bar - Bar XV in Val d’Isere - very busy with plenty of beer being consumed! #rugby #beer

This dog was the star of the bar in the Troll Bar in Paris last night! While everyone was watching the rugby she concentrated on watching who had food! #pubdog

A fantastic evening at the Troll Cafe in Paris - beer, cheese, meat and rugby! #beer #6nations

Travel pints at The Station Pantry, St Pancras International! #pints #travel

Support an Independent Pub Day- Saturday 15th February 2025 #supportanindependentpubday

An interesting opinion read in the Morning Advertiser showing how some pubcos don't know the meaning of partnership and experiences are "traumatic, stressful and difficult". WHow do we save pubs if the people running our pubs are being treated so badly! www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/Article/2025...
