Study suggests COVID-19 infection no longer grants long-lasting immunity url:https://www.gavi.org/vaccineswork/post-omicron-covid-19-infection-no-longer-grants-long-lasting-immunity Looks like I'll need another booster sooner rather than later

The same WHO that Trump has withdrawn from!

www.news-medical.net/news/2025020... Interesting findings in this study

After Elon Musk's right arm gesture and his support for extreme right wing parties in Europe, I have now deactivated my X account. Trump's withdrawal of the USA from WHO is a major concern. Although too highly politicized IMO, WHO is still a great technical organization and should be supported.

SA Health received 361 COVID-19 notifications this week, up from 342 last week, with the 4-week moving average at 320 and rising. Last week, 14.5% of COVID PCR tests were positive, the highest rate for over a year.

As we end 2024, we are in a summer wave of COVID-19, with more than 50% of samples due to XEC. December data are incomplete, so numbers will keep increasing, especially after Xmas and New Year. I would like to take the opportunity to wish all of my followers a healthy, safe and happy New Year.

As you are probably aware by now, I have just had my first COVID infection. I thought I’d explain what it was like for those who are still NOVIDS. I woke up on the 12th December feeling very unwell and wobbly. I took my temperature and it was close to 40. I had a severe frontal headache.

theconversation.com/why-do-disin... Another excellent explainer by Hassan Vally. My understanding is that most cleaners including those cleaning hospitals, wipe the surface immediately after spraying disinfectant, rather than waiting for it to take effect.

edition.cnn.com/2024/12/16/s... Very interesting article. I had never heard of "mirror" bacteria before this.

Even with my fuzzy head, I did notice that SA Health have not provided their regular COVID stats last Friday. I wonder what's wrong?

www.news.com.au/world/corona... Greetings fellow BlueSkyers and followers. I have been a bit quiet for a few days, because last Wednesday I finally succumbed to my first ever COVID infection, and it has been quite nasty. Even more annoying, I was booked in for a booster the next day!

Dogs are funny creatures. My dog always gives me a guilty look when doing a poo. Another dog hates her owner to be too close and backs away in the middle of a poo. A friend with a greyhound says her dog loves backing into a thorn bush when pooing, making it difficult to retrieve the droppings! #dogs

COVID notifications in South Australia have jumped again from 306 last week to 354. The %positive PCR tests has gone up from 9.1% to 10.8%, the highest it's been since June. I went to A Night at the Opera at the Town Hall Wednesday night - only myself and a handful of other people wearing facemasks!

For those who have recently recovered from COVID and are due for a booster, the latest advice is to have the booster as soon as your symptoms have resolved.

www.theguardian.com/world/2024/d... Outbreak of unknown disease in DRC. Sounds very much like bacterial meningitis. WHO are investigating.

Delighted to have just received the University of South Australia Media Perfomer of the Year award from our acting Vice Chancellor @marnieh-w.bsky.social - and welcome to BluSky Marnie. #EpiSky

COVID notifcations for South Australia have dropped slightly from last week (from 322 to 306), with the %positive PCR tests steady at 9%. However, the 7-day moving average tells a slightly different story.
