Trump Administration's Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, orders the State Department to freeze passport applications with the 'X' gender marker #NOH8

Obviously the Gender Critical movement is going to welcome any and all fascism, especially when it is harming trans people Still grim they can claim that they're supporting material reality by claiming sex is determined at conception, which is unambiguously false, without any media pushback at all

To the world: Please forgive the U.S. No, that's not it. Please resist and fight the U.S. government's denialism, erasure of vulnerable populations, ignorance of science, and commitments to inequality and extractive (tech) capitalism.

MAGA doesn't give a fuck about anyone but billionaires.

Energy EO holds up EV charging funding to states already appropriated by Congress. If fewer charging stations get built, fewer cars will drive on electricity. This will be bad for emissions, but it will also increase gasoline use, which will raise, gasoline prices. www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

A bracing thought: for many public servants, just continuing to do their jobs, to send out checks, to post RFPs, to interview candidates, now constitutes an act of radical faith that the US is a nation of laws, and not of men. The thing is, the more people keep doing just that, the more it's true.

We've got four more years of Trump administration to unpack, but here's what we've got for Day One: - an end to all wind energy permits (that includes onshore) heatmap.news/politics/win...

In addition to listening to @democracynow.org today, you might want to listen to the great 1960s protest singer Phil Ochs: youtu.be/K7fgB0m_y2I?... From 1965's "I Ain't Marching Any More" album.

Really recommend listening to @democracynow.org podcast today, over and over again on repeat. Coverage of #MLK, resisters at Peace March. Voices informing and inspiring us to fight back. Grateful for your work! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/d...

Happy MLK Jr. Day, my friends. In 1968, Dr. King spoke the following words, which are equally true today: "The nation is sick. Trouble is in the land; confusion all around.... But I know, somehow, that only when it is dark enough, can you see the stars." We must find & feed the points of light.

‘Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.’ — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. On #MLKDay, we honor his legacy by choosing love over hate, justice over injustice, and hope over fear.

Joy!

All of us can benefit from feeling included, safe, seen and valued 📣! These are simple but powerful concepts, and they are foundational for learning, mental health and well-being ❤️. #InclusiveEducation #LGBTQRights #ChildrensRights

#OTD in 1929, we celebrate Dr. King’s true birthday—separate from the later holiday. The same issues he marched against decades ago still impact our world today. Let’s remember his example of nonviolent civil disobedience and keep working to make his dream a reality.

My heart is full because people are listening to the audio version of Vol I of Jack Smith’s final report. The truth matters!

The architect of Project 2025's confirmation hearing is tomorrow. We gotta get loud about this one. Send your letters to your Senators demanding they oppose Russell Vought. Let's go. actionnetwork.org/letters/tell...

podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/m... Always happy to learn more about #gardening with native plants for diverse ecosystems and community growth. “Gardens of engagement” is the perfect term for what I’m hoping to achieve in urban spaces. #UrbanPastorals

1. Hundreds of companies who pledged to stop donating to members of Congress who voted to overturn the election on 1/6/21 have broken their promise over the last 4 years But we've identified 10 promise keepers: Farmers Airbnb Expedia Nike Clorox General Mills Holland & Hart Qurate Whirlpool Lyft

Shhh, don’t tell him!

this is a case where doj should just release the material anyway. and it will be a grave mistake if they don't. she has no plausible basis for jurisdiction over this.

Rule #1 for fighting fascism: Don’t obey in advance. Rule #2: Don’t normalize fascist rhetoric, gestures or actions.

Screw them. If you shop there, stop.

Screw them. If you eat there, stop.

Rest in peace, Jimmy Carter. Thank you for being one of the remarkable people who demonstrated that what's often thought of as time for retirement is when some among us reach their prime. Thank you for your feminism, your advocacy for Palestinians, your hands-on Habitat for Humanity work....

Jimmy Carter is a hero of the renewable energy revolution, and if we’d listened to him we could have gotten where we are now decades earlier.

President Biden should put solar panels back on the White House in the next two weeks and dedicate them to President Carter. 🔌💡

Many know that President Carter put solar panels on the White House. Fewer know that he signed PURPA, the law that kick started solar energy for the entire world. That legacy alone makes him one of the greats.

Jimmy Carter was right about climate change. He was right about the Mideast conflict and apartheid in Israel and South Africa and the ongoing plagues of poverty and racism. It was he not Reagan who freed our hostages in Iran. A true man of God, he died beloved, which not many presidents do or will.

This is the lash photograph of Dr Hussam Abu Safiyeh, taken as he walks, unflinching, towards the Israeli tanks. An absolutely harrowing image.

A key international food insecurity monitor retracted a report warning of imminent famine in Israeli-sieged north Gaza after the Biden administration pressured the group to do so, new reporting finds.

Sending gratitude. Eager to explore!

Homelessness. 770.000 Americans are homeless and it is getting worse. Those people need help not a tax cut. Social programs work only if we fund them . Mental health needs help in this country, now .

Real life is not like science fiction, where the power usage required for processing rarely, if ever, factors into the plot. I still care very much about the ethics of AI usage but I really think its environmental and infrastructural impact desperately needs more exposure.
