Going tough on immigration isn’t working. Instead, we must offer real solutions to falling living standards and growing inequality. Some takeaways from the election losses, in the sincere hope that this will be a period of genuine reflection for our party: labourlist.org/2025/05/nadi...

Honestly I think the blame is probably down the system. Tories have a nice clean and effective system (which labour should copy) whereas labour has a Byzantine system that makes it almost impossible to dislodge a leader who won't politely resign.

This is a dogshit rebrand, and probably gonna fall foul of an electoral law or two, but people are overthinking the reasoning. It’s just an extension of that “country over party” thing the PLP is obsessed with. They aren’t trying to hoodwink people into thinking they’re the Greens or whatever

anyway,

This is what Anneliese Dodds rightly described as taking a tactical rather than strategic approach to the threats we face

Person A: Hello GP, my knee has gone and I need knee surgery so i can get back to work GP: It's going to be 6-9 months for a surgery spot A: Oh dear, well I will need a sick note for that time off work then GP: Here is a leaflet for employment support. A: What? inews.co.uk/news/politic...

Feels like Labour MPs are going to have to coup Keir. We're doing a worst of all worlds set of econ/welfare policies that economists, our voters and our MPs don't like. We're failing to take advantage of US insanity or protect ourselves from it and we're failing to match Germany & France on Ukraine

I'm in LabourList, writing about Project Chainsaw, Scottish DOGE, and Labour talking about making Britain great again, all of which does nothing but signal desperation and a clanging lack of ideological self confidence. labourlist.org/2025/03/labo...

Everyone: Trump destroying the university sector is a massive opportunity for the UK to drive growth in high value sectors and pull in some amazing researchers! The Treasury:

Terrific resignation letter by Anneliese Dodds, this.

New post just out On the return of "Blue Labour" and why attacking liberalism would fracture the government's fragile coalition. (£/free trial) open.substack.com/pub/samf/p/a...

Govt could use the reordering of the Western security alliances to do two things: explain that this new world 1) means we have to pivot to the EU, so old red lines pre election are gone 2) old tax promises can't be kept because we have a new threat/need - to increase defence spending.

If all the important conversations are happening within Trumpism, why should we be interested in your views on Labour? @dmk1793.bsky.social and @morganj0nes.bsky.social on the recent political interventions of Lord Glasman: renewal.org.uk/2025/02/16/t...
