Trump was seen as the average persons protector, a bulwark against big tech and coastal oligarchs. Example: During the French Revolution many peasants were royalist because they believed the king was their protector against the urban elites. The recent shifts in alignment present major fault lines.

We're nowhere near prepared to deal with the practical realities of climate change, particularly & especially that: 1) lots of people live in lots of places where they shouldn't 2) rebuilding there after climate disasters is untenable 3) we need a ton more housing everywhere else to compensate
