Not only will growth not save us, but for many rich countries & at a global level, we need urgent degrowth to get within sustainable planetary boundaries related to resource extraction & consumption and environmental destruction & pollution. Wealth redistribution is essential. #DoughnutEconomics

On the geopolitics I haven't got a clue about what's the right thing to do.
On living through the whatever the next few decades bring, my thoughts are broadly the same for all the many crises: build community.

Needs another panel: "Protesters demanding we take urgent action will be arrested."

I have a hypersensitivity to a usually unnoticeable twitching or stretching of the muscles that move my eyes. Not only do I know my eyes have moved because they’re pointing in a different direction, but I also feel a pulse in my head half a second later. I am My-Own-Eye-Movement-Extra-Awareness Man.

We must be ready. Join a group e.g. Stand Up To Racism, XR, a local growers co-op, a homelessness charity. Get educated on the issues, read up on civil resistance, books like "Let This Radicalize You". Build alliances between groups. Only community & inclusive collective action can stop fascism.

I'm not really a writer or artist, unless you count trying to organise a revolution as an art form, but I thought I'd say hello anyway!

I don't see why it wouldn't be. No one's going to be driving anything out of the dealership without them noticing all the tires on dozens of their vehicles are flat.

While I criticise its use at every opportunity, I'm also expecting it to crash fairly soon. The only reason it's everywhere is because venture capitalists are still pouring billions into it, in the misguided hope that a sufficiently complicated predictive text system will somehow become intelligent.

Hopefully a step in the right direction but, with underfunded ELMS & "biodiversity net gain" being largely a commodification of nature for greenwashing, I'm yet to be convinced this government (or the last) would do anything close to what's needed to restore nature.

Growth means nothing full stop. It's not a meaningful measure of economic well-being and its pushing us way beyond sustainable planetary boundaries. We need degrowth, massive wealth redistribution, and a focus on solving real human needs hand in hand with nature.

Yes, something about the kindly crinkly eyes and subtle smile amongst the beard is giving me Williams.

Why are you reporting on GDP growth as if it is in any way a meaningful measure of economic well-being? Has the New Economics Foundation been corrupted by neoliberalism? We need degrowth & wealth redistribution if we're ever going to get to sustainability.

I've not been able to make significant progress with my studies in over a year, and even the volunteering with local activist groups is taking too much out of me. Some days I'm hardly able to look after myself. I'm still hoping to eventually recover, but this might be my life now.

You can't have endless growth on a finite planet. It's destroying the environment. We need degrowth to get back within sustainable planetary boundaries, and massive wealth redistribution to end the obscene inequalities & support the majority who are being exploited by this corrupt capitalist system.

If the government wants to improve the media landscape in the uk, they are ... the ones in government.

Interesting tech, but not yet convinced it's going to be a significant scalable solution to anything. Could easily end up using lots of energy to create a not easy to use fuel, plus a whole load of graphene enhanced pollutants, all while encouraging more fossil gas extraction.

If Starmer lets Rosebank go ahead, he'll have to arrest a hell of a lot of people with orange banners. #JustStopOil

The organizers also emphasized that showing up for rallies or protests is not enough and that everyone needs to find a political home where they can build relationships and power for the long term
