"If the Government is serious about delivering sustained economic growth, it must recognise and support the natural systems that underpin that growth. Stop worrying about bats and newts? No Rachel Reeves MP – start worrying about the future of our economy if we tear down the nature it depends on. Nature isn’t a blocker; it’s the foundation of growth.

Friday good news!🐭😍Our colleagues in Japan found a nest of Japanese dormice at 2200m on Mt Fuji at the end of last year. The mother had sadly died but the four pups were alive. They brought the pups into captivity, fed them until they fattened up, and then successfully released back into the wild!

This week we welcomed our brilliant interns Freya, Will, Josh and Matt to the office. They delivered excellent presentations on each of their #internship projects and updated us on their progress. It was great to meet you all! Read about their individual projects here👇 ptes.org/grants/inter...

We're calling on UK Government to ensure that fines on water companies are used to clean up the pollution they cause & restore our waterways💧 Polluters must be made to pay for environmental damage🪙 This must be locked into the Water (Special Measures) Bill👇 www.theguardian.com/environment/...

If the Water Restoration Fund is not established in the new Water Bill, there's a risk that not penny from fines on polluting companies will go towards cleaning up our rivers💦 Fines must fix damage caused by companies, rather than leave the public to pick up the bill🪙 inews.co.uk/news/not-sin...

Our intern Rachel has been surveying disused tunnels in SW of England monitoring bats: "It's been an absolutely wonderful experience so far. Seeing the bats thrive has definitely made all the late nights worthwhile." Watch this space for updates on her findings coming soon! 🦇🌃

With 3/4 of precious habitats & wildlife unmonitored for 5 years, how can Government know where to target efforts to restore nature? It's like shutting the door on a new power plant & not visiting for a decade👎 More funding must be allocated for inspections🪙 www.independent.co.uk/climate-chan...

Happy New Year! 2025 is here! Bats are still hibernating, which is a state of inactivity where bats lower body temperature, slow their breathing, and lower their metabolic rate. They will slowly start waking up in Spring when temperatures increase and insects are around.

🎉 GOOD OCEAN NEWS: Grey seals are growing in numbers on England’s east coast thanks to safe nature havens and cleaner North Sea waters. 🌊 Incredible news for our ocean that shows the power of conservation efforts in action. 🦭
