Doctor: Any concerns today? Me: My heart rate keeps spiking for no reason. Doctor into tape recorder: Patient reports cardiovascular paranoia. Believes heart is acting autonomously. Suspect delusional disorder - hold for psychiatric observation and confiscate smartwatch. ⚡️ #mcas #pots

Doctor: Any new symptoms since your last visit? Me: I’ve been dizzy and it's hard to stand. Doctor into tape recorder: Patient claims gravity has a personal vendetta. Psychotic ideation with persecutory overtones. Initiated antipsychotics. Recommend grounding exercises. ⚡️ #pots #mecfs

Doctor: Any symptoms lately? How do you feel? Me: Good as gold. Doctor into tape recorder: Patient appears to believe they are a precious metal. Hallucinations possibly tied to delusions of grandeur. Begin antipsychotics and place on 72 hour involuntary hold. ⚡️ #medsky

Medical neglect and doctors who abuse their power over patients are far more common than you'd expect. Unless you have a complex #ChronicIllness, and then I'm guessing you know what I'm talking about (yeap - that common!)

Add me, Snazzy! If you're interested in posts about our rights in healthcare. There's a movement of people with chronic illness who've been neglected and abused in healthcare, gaining traction. (And we're all going to get sick someday)

The way they describe not looking queer patrons in the eye and refusing to respond to them is disgusting and dehumanising. If they were really just checking the bar met compliance standards, the patrons are doing nothing wrong. Why then do they treat them as less than human?

I'm sorry your bestie got sick. I hope he's going to be okay. And I'm sorry you're feeling sadness creep in at the moment. I hope it starts to ease soon. ☀️ Thank you for sharing your thoughts 😊

The 'can't fulfil its destiny' thing used to be such a sadness when throwing away food as a kid, like vegetables that got too old. And the frustration with not being able to keep my space clean is real, same with the tasks I can barely complete each day only to have to do them again tomorrow.

I relate to so many things you're talking about ☺️ My motorbike, my car and even my oxygen concentrator have names. And the air purifier. I feel like it makes things more fun. And makes me feel a tiny bit less alone when it's hard to go and see friends.

Nice post. I wonder if your alexithymia is driven by interoceptive blindness, given you don't perceive any body signals relating to emotions. Could be a good term to look into it you haven't already. ☺️

I'm so glad you made it outside for a bit. That's a lovely patch of sunlight and fresh air you've got there. I hope you make it back there soon 😊

Yeah, I mean no wonder practitioners are so reckless, if there's no lawyers willing to hold them accountable. That sounds like an awful experience. It's not okay that it happened, and it's not okay that you can't even seek justice after the fact.

In cahoots as in the hospital with the lawyers? (not surprised -just curious about specifically what you're referring to). I'm so sorry this happened to you.

So "she didn't listen" (more factual) becomes "you didn't feel listened to" (more subjective). And statements like "he said my symptoms were nothing, & then mocked me when I gave him a research article about them" are explained away: "sometimes a doctor just isn't the right fit for you." #NEISvoid

I find that if you're truthful about such careless medical errors, or the condescension when you tried to address them, you're not likely to be believed. Unless they've experienced patient abuse themselves or really understand it already, their subconscious biases are too strong.
