We're firmly in the hottest Backerkit projects, let's goooooo

Pugmire Unleashed launched last night, and it funded overnight and reached its first stretch goal! We have more stretch goals to go, so check it out. It's also structured so you don't have to worry about tariffs! www.backerkit.com/c/projects/o...

Sharing this @harperkids.bsky.social page for Juneteenth—there are lots of great #kidlit books out there to help young readers honor, understand, and celebrate the holiday.

'Meredith,' some guys ask, 'why won't you shove AI into Signal?' Because we love privacy, and we love you, and this shit is predictable and unacceptable. Use Signal ❤️

Wile E Coyote has a better success rate with rockets than Space X.

get wreked

Although speaking of stupid shit in gaming, I just now noticed how distances in miniature games are generally in inches, but model measurements are generally in millimetres. What the hell?

With everything going on in the world, the amount of energy I'm going to give to people on social media telling folks what they need to do to be a real designer is fucking zero. As someone who have been a professional designer for over two decades, I officially dub all of you real game designers.

The NYT's anti-trans fear mongering was cited in a Supreme Court briefing that stripped away the rights of trans kids. They need to be fully blacklisted by queer people and their allies. Don't work for them. Don't use them for book press. Don't speak with them for stories. They made their bed.

Sega has made nine of its mobile retro re-releases free before they’re delisted. Each game has been made ad-free and had its in-app purchases removed. www.videogameschronicle.com/news/sega-ha...

I'll try to get back into the habit of posting direct links to news stories that I've read instead of mindless reposting. That said, this is fucking disgusting, and definitely makes me incredibly concerned about how the Home Office is going to handle my family. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

Transphobes: we DON'T just hate trans people! We just want to protect women! Also transphobes:

Having played in one of Tom's DIE games, I can absolutely vouch for the quality of them. Defeinitely worth checking out if you have the time, and you don't need to know much of anything about the comic it's based on.

I will not buy your AI book, I will not give its text a look I will not share your AI art, I will not share even a part I will not play your AI game I will not play it, feel some shame! Use your soul and heart and head And make us things to love, instead #noAI

Credit Where Credit’s Due - Help needed for one last push! If you missed this, or haven't had chance yet - take the moment today, we're almost there!! To move our videogames credits campaign forward the WGGB’s Videogames Committee needs just a few more responses- www.surveymonkey.com/r/Y97DHN3

I'm too lazy to dig up my old Twitter posts but this obsession with your validity as a game designer is a pit. You don't need someone to give you permission or a badge of qualification. Just do it.

I'm a very serious critic of nuclear weapons but I've never used one

What is common knowledge in your field, but shocks outsiders? The vast majority of comic books, published, even by Marvel and DC, sell less than 25,000 copies an issue

I'm so bored with the way D&D has infected fiction.

Keisuke Itagaki also did these covers for a pair of intro to philosophy books.

I'm training to be a creativity coach! I've kind of become obsessed with creativity over the past year; how some people can just spew out idea after idea, while other people like me struggle to be creative if I'm not being paid to be. Turns out creativity is a really interesting (and deep) subject!

What is common knowledge in your field, but shocks outsiders? The aesthetics of game mechanics are just as valid and important as the maths behind them.

"I understand your point completely. You asked about Shakespeare's play Cardenio, and instead of explaining that none of its text survives, I painstakingly faked a 17th-century folio, had it authenticated by experts and sold it to you for £50million. That was not a helpful response to your request."

For the love of fuck. Please. Make sure to properly label videos that show violence or death so that people aren't getting fucking flash banged by things that might be very triggering. I am well aware of what's going on in the world. I fucking hate it. Don't give me a panic attack about it please?!

On the @theonyxpath.bsky.social blog, Rich talked a bit about how the title for PUGMIRE UNLEASHED came about. It also has a teaser for badgers, and a link to get signed up to be notified when the campaign goes live! #RealmsofPugmire #rpg theonyxpath.com/unleash-the-...

Starmer: ooohhh keys shiney! Jingle Jingle they go, ah ha ha ha ha!!!

This sack of illiterate hateful brain piss seems to have missed Othello and the Merchant of Venice

Patreon is raising the percentage it takes from new creators (again), from 8% to 10%, on August 4. People with existing Patreon pages get grandfathered into the old rate. If you're thinking about making a page, best to do it and publish it now.

During one of my StokerCon panels — and strangely, it wasn't the one about comic books — I mentioned a memo I'd received from Stan Lee in which he told me the word "horror" could not be used as part of the program I was creating for the first Mighty Marvel Con. Here's the relevant part of that memo.

The next #RealmsofPugmire crowdfunder, PUGMIRE UNLEASHED, is launching soon! If you want to get notified the moment it goes like, please sign up! (Also, signups tell BackerKit that folks support this campaign, which really helps us out.) www.backerkit.com/call_to_acti...

Someone asked me if Pugmire is a good game. I said, "It is if you're doggedly persistent."

It is really really sinking in for me the degree to which LLMs are the ultimate expression of right wing anti-intellectualism. Its proponents are literally mocking the idea that anyone would ever want to learn anything, know anything, develop any actual skill, or have a thought of their own.

Infants can literally just stop breathing and die with no warning from “whooping cough” (pertussis) infection. They do not necessarily even get the infamous cough that older children and adults get (and can be severe enough to break ribs). Do not let unvaccinated people around your newborns (or you)

the John Wick universe is what you get if someone explained everything about Vampire: the Masquerade except that the characters are vampires

but… isn’t the point of drinking coffee to sit there and read a book while you do? the decline of reading for fun is maybe the single most depressing thing about the technological era we’re living through

A reminder to reporters, when historians look back on this moment with the president throwing himself a military parade and the people throwing No Kings rallies across America, the media sources raving about the former and sneering at the latter are going to be quoted by name. This is your legacy!
