these two sites list some other alternatives, i think element is the closest to a discord-like experience out of all of them but it's also less user-friendly for the average person imo

i saw that right after on my feed and was like "ohhh that makes a lot of sense".
there are a couple alternatives for messaging apps but honestly i think revolt would be the closest to a discord-like experience if you're going for that specifically

it's decent i'd say but i've only rlly ever tested it out a couple times (since the ppl i talk to regularly are all on other platforms - i think i'd try switching over fully if that wasn't the case).
