In my experience the Seattle drivers were so used to scooters, e-bikes, etc. that they’re pretty cognizant of cyclists, BUT there always seems to be that one person…

I took a big break from it. No one has the time for everything

I will! I just got an email about the new dates and I’m waiting to hear about whether we get chosen as speakers. It’s not until early December, I believe.

I had a ton of stress and started lifting more, which made sense for not seeing much of any difference.

February had a similar hiccup for me… just flat basically. Another 10lbs for vanity would make me happy 😂

The removal of the information about the Code Talkers has happened too 😡

Yaaaay!!
They moved the conference to San Antonio this year which is 👎🏻 for me because I’ve been there and I’d rather go see you two in Austin!

My Canadian friends find this appalling and not funny when Americans joke about it.

Agreed. When the recertifications start hitting it’s going to put the economy and families in a world of hurt.

I would love to visit! I will keep Ottawa in mind. @cbriancpa.com still owes me coffee for coming to Austin 2x and him being unavailable 😂

Anyone on an income dependent loan repayment plan (IDR) when they’re set to resubmit income & re-certify their need, the govt is no longer processing apps. This causes the loan payment to default to the orig payment amount, for example I’ve seen some $285 payments on IDR default back to $1000+/mo.

It’s odd b/c no one else is saying it. There will always be some unis that are tuition based & not research, but there are a LOT of challenges in those models too. (federal grants/student loans)
So far I can do both teaching & practice and I’m designing classes for SBA state orgs, which is cool

I’ve heard from multiple PhDs in different areas that have had their NIH research (and thus their wages/livelihoods) stopped suddenly. I’ve decided that it is probably not a path I’m willing to try to go down. Accounting has another CPA back 🤪
comment in response to

This is the truth and I haven’t really said it so blatantly (so you’re about to hear it first here), but I don’t really see a path (for myself) as a researcher in the next couple years. That plus what they’re doing to the DOE has me planning to go back to biz life and reduce teaching 😫

I can only imagine. So many research grants gone. 😣

I’m in Canada for the week and I’ve been making sure to buy local! I even saw a sign that said, “Boycott Starbucks, drink Canadian coffee” and I loved it! 🍁 I had a local latte today that MIGHT be the best latte I’ve ever had.

Oh my, I’m still in that group but it’s been even longer since I popped in there and caught up. Glad to hear it’s still hopping too!

Oh, and don’t get me started on how many congressional/senate votes I’ve looked up to verify who voted how. This is never something I thought I’d need to do, either. Geeeez

I know so many of us who have!! I have researched more political/constitutional laws and procedures than I would have thought I’d ever need to, as well. 🤦🏼♀️

I agree. I have been staying on top of it because I need to and we don’t have the luxury of head in the sand, but sometimes I check back out of it when I don’t have the luxury of getting irate about it 😂
comment in response to

I’ve likely been adding to it for people on IG who just go there to stick their heads in the sand, but it has been very hard for someone focused on non-profits and teaching/research to watch all of the grants that help us and grow our knowledge be cancelled. 😔 My whole 5 year plan is out the window.

I was lower anxiety when I was staying away from the tax season noise, which has also been a benefit of being so busy. I wonder if it didn’t have more to do with the *other place* vibes as well as tax firm talk. This timeline has a LOT of politics for me, which is also overwhelming sometimes.

I’ve run my best 50k stuffed full of pizza the night before, but not spicy. That could be an issue! 😂
