If there’s a next time, I hope people back the person & the party actually fighting for them instead of crying that it wasn’t enough or fast enough. Progressive means making progress. Getting it done, but it takes time.

This IS the fundamental problem our party has and it is why almost nobody trusts them. They exhaust all this capital trying to convince people who will never trust them to vote for them. And then their base can’t trust them to implement the policies they do want.

I am extremely in favor of strict investment restrictions. Let them invest in index funds but no sector funds and no stocks. They already have an amazing pension. The point of serving is not to generate a huge pile of money.

We should pay them $500k a year, ban them from having private investments (apply ban to family members), ban them from lobbying and private sector roles related to their committee assignments for 5 years after they vacate their seats, see who still wants the job then.

I know this is an extremely naive thing to say, but—it would be nice if elected officials viewed their job description as doing the best for their constituents with the time they have rather than getting re-elected.
