The Godot asset library has a load of demo projects. I'm sure you could find one to learn from

Ooh a big project okay. Well I'm in the middle of making a game for this academy I'm taking part in but if you're still looking for someone in like 2 months I might be able to take you up on it, sorry

I love this, I'm curious though how you detect a sound-making hit. Is it when the delta velocity of an object is -vely high enough? Or some other fancy method I need to learn right this instant?

Ye, that might change things a bit, but the general premise is the same, you can add on from here.
This is code from an older project, can't guarantee it will work plug & play for you, code also in alt.
I modified this from a tutorial, tried to find it for you but couldn't, there's lots on YT tho.

Oh my god I love this, the slow veer into the black hole absolutely makes this.

It's actually really easy in Godot, the InputMap system makes it simple enough to take an input directly from the user and apply it to a mapped control.

This doesn't mean MEEP will never see the light of day, I just want to build my proverbial (although I guess also literal) resume. I'll still chip away at it while working on this other game, just a bit less than I used to.

Oh my god forgive me, I completely forgot.
You can kinda ignore the ComponentManager system and access the parent node directly if you want, I just did it like this because of the way I like to structure things.

RayCast3D node on the player camera, Interact_Component (extension of Area3D) on the object.
In the player script, check collision every frame, set target.
Call functions on target node for hover/unhover etc.
Not at my computer atm, I'll get screenshots for you in a bit. I'm bad at explaining lol

Oh... That's an abstract liminal dimension designed by a benevolent god for the express purpose of obliterating the minds of and bifurcating the sanity from the poor unfortunate souls blasphemous and driven enough to pursue justice for their celestial misdeeds...

Mm, also gonna use Microsoft's language resource. For some of the "" "technical""" terms like "Host (a game)" or "Join (a game)"

If the game reaches a large enough audience I'll probably pay for some localisers, but currently I'm using translations from the Polyglot GameDev project. It has like 600 common strings in 28 languages
